I am filled with such rage. At my high school, both the principal and assistant principal are on the list of credibly accused abusive deviant priests. They are both dead now. It is horrible to know now that one of my classmates was a victim. These two priests were despicable. And they revelled in it.

As an older sister this really does smell of a “the smarter one yields” moment. I’ve heard that a million times when my parents asked me to give in, let my little sister have her will because she can scream louder. It didn’t exactly help her become a well adjusted adult but it’s easy parenting.

I like that they didn’t fuck, though. The Jimmy and Dottie arc always read to me as Jimmy reluctantly respecting his team because of Dottie. Dottie is a good moral character for NOT fucking Jimmy. That would have ruined the movie.

I love that you’re giving evidence of her throwing the game using literal “inside baseball.” Bravo. I sincerely wish I could give you more stars.

Bit of unrelated trivia: Racine, Wisconsin did indeed have a women’s team, and my mother was the youngest player on their farm team. She was an excellent athlete (I didn’t inherit that, but my sister did).

Dottie definitely dropped the ball on purpose. There’s absolutely no way she would transfer the ball from her glove to her right hand while falling down otherwise. The catcher will have the ball in her glove to make the tag and only take it out afterwards to show the umpire that they still have it. Otherwise they’re

She absolutely gave it up on purpose. Her whole thing was she claimed to be doing this all for Kit and really wanted to be housewife. But it wasn’t true even if she didn’t realize it. Kit knew it wasn’t true and it drove her crazy/annoying.  She was an amazing ballplayer because she loved it and she loved the

Exactly. That dog is a mix of three extremely high energy/strung breeds. It’s bred to be a working dog or pulling sleds all day. Beautiful pups to be sure, but I would never have one because I don’t have the time or energy to ensure they get the attention they need.

“I ain’t got the time, and my daddy thinks I’m fine.”  Anyone who’s heard “Rehab” knows her father enabled her addiction.

Jezebel shouldn’t even be linking to them (and I’m just as gross/a hypocrite for clicking on that link, as it’s not like I couldn’t have understood the article without the context of unflattering photos).

They’re not as popular as they once were, but let’s not forget there is still a whole genre of reality television dedicated to shows that profit off anti-fatness

I think Steenburgen passed beyond the looking 40-ish phase in the last decade, but weirdly I think she actually looks better now. I always liked her as an actress but never found her particularly attractive, but when she popped up in 30 Rock and Bored to Death right before she turned 60 I suddenly found her gorgeous,

I had a gal pal visit me from Texas within the first year I had moved to LA that loved this film. So while she was here without ever telling her what I was doing, I would casually drive by one of the locations used in the film like the Witch’s house in Beverly Hills, the fountain just right there on Wilshire, the

I’m down with Emancipation (especially “Fly Like A Bird”) but prefer Rainbow to Butterfly, which lacks any standout songs in my mind. (The “classic” David morales remix of “Honey” is awesome though.)

I counter that by saying her best album is Butterfly, closely followed by The Emancipation of Mimi. The latter is a great comeback after the fallout of Glitter flopping and dealing with being considered a joke.

You’re spot on about the mishmash.  Like Burton couldn’t decide between doing a loopy satire a-la the Brady Bunch movie or a straight horror version, tried to do both, and failed at both.  You’re also right about the fans of the show not being pleased--my mom was/is one of those fans and she strongly disliked this

“It was way too soap opera-y”

I just recently watched Dumbo, and I regret to inform everyone that it’s actually good. In fact, it’s arguably the best of Disney’s live action remakes recently (a low bar, I know).

Dumbo is good, too. Not the most vital or urgent movie he’s made, but it’s beautiful to look at and actually feels like someone re-interpreting Dumbo, rather than running an elaborate animatronic simulation. Though I feel similarly about his version of Alice. Not essential, but it’s a pretty fun movie for kids.

If I knew one of my exes had written a memoir that includes details about our relationship, 10000% I would read it and deny that I had. No question about it.
