@Kris: Well, agree to disagree, I guess. I think he's an amazingly deep and troubled character, one I at times sympathize with and other times want to hit, which is to me part of the markings of a great character.

@Ueziel: Enh, I disagree. You don't need equipment, really. The only major issue is that you don't get access to ether until after you've beaten the garrison, so your casters can only cast two or three times per combat. Otherwise, I think the gear is irrelevant for the most part.

@legerrid: If you want your main character to be reasonable, you might not want to read a series where the main character is the reincarnation of a guy that went insane due to using a tainted source of magic. It just doesn't bode well for that whole reasonable thing.

@Kris: Wow...don't get me wrong, Mat is my favorite character by far, but why the hate for Rand? I will admit that he gets very dark in the last several books, but it's with damn good reason.

@legerrid: oh man...don't say you hate Rand, yet. There are 12 of the books. Keep reading and you'll love him and hate him with equal ferocity, trust me.

@Kris: Have you read book 12 yet? I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that I think you'll love it.

@legerrid: And The Eye of the World is Lord of the Rings, Padan Fain is Gollem, Lan is Aragorn, Moiraine is Gandalf, Elaida is Sarumon, The Dark One is Sauron, The Chosen/Forsaken are the Nah'Ghul (at least in the manner in which they were raised to power), Trollocs are Orcs, Saidin/Saidar are the Darkside and the

@legerrid: haha...I don't really see it, but I always appreciate a good WoT reference.

@AudibleDefect: a) none at all, b) some people have issues with playing games in offline mode, but I've never personally had any, so it's not a rule.

@Rampage: My favorite thing about Steam? Browsing and buying games while on my break at work and then coming home and installing them.

@ARCH_27: Fester's Quest! I loved that game, but I could never get past the starting area as a kid.

@Pheermee: Remember Battletoads and Double Dragon (the crossover game, I mean)? That game was freakin' impossible!

@Manly_McBeeferton: Just have to be a crotchety old man and complain that Oddworld predates the PS1, the version you played was a port.

@Pheermee: The Legend of Zelda (the original one) and Super Mario Bros. (the original, again). I loved those as a child, but I didn't beat them until I was an adult.

@spyder2g: There is almost zero difference in terms of picture. LCD does better under varied lighting conditions, whereas Plasma pretty much only looks great under one particular lighting situation (unless you change the settings, which can get tedious). Plasma has truer blacks, LCD typically has slightly better

@Slatz_Grobnik: Have you read the player's log that Kotaku is doing? It's pretty informative, I think.

For any who may remember my tales of woe at trying to play Final Fantasy Tactics on my PS2, only to be foiled again and again by memory card shenanigans: I finally got it working and played for way too long last night.

@Shinta: Yeah, I feel stupid for asking because I went and looked it up like 10 seconds later and found the answer. Thank you :)

Whole new Fallout game or just another DLC for Fallout 3?

My aunt and uncle picked me up the above pictured chess set at a garage sale for my wedding. Now if I can just get permission to put it on our china cabinet...
