It’s almost like people over a certain age forgot how to make up their own narrative for things when given ample opportunity. Some portion of those slagging on the game seem like they need objective based games to enjoy them rather than setting objectives for themselves.

Plagirism is one of the reasons I have a hard time caring about art above ‘eh, interesting’.
