I think this comment forgets that the European market is much more important to VW than the US. While a RAV4 killer would sell in Europe (and sell like hotcakes here in the US), this is the car that VW needs to make for their home market.

To be more accurate, the normal selling price for something like that would be 5,000 usd being generous. To have it sell for 50k means that’s 10 times the normal price. I have never gotten pulled over for no front plate, but I have gotten two parking tickets for it.

the real answer is to change the laws to not require front plates.
