@Piledriver: same here. Maybe it's not as widespread as some would like you to believe.

@SeriesofTubes: Very well said. Thanks for explaining CAH much better than I ever could. Actually, I think I'm going to bookmark your comment.
@attilathehoney: My pleasure. Honestly, I've never met anyone with the condition. That's why I try and comment on anything that may relate. I hope it helps someone out there with CAH who's never met anyone either.
@emaline: As someone with CAH, if there had been a treatment that would have counteracted the physical abnormalities, I would have wanted my mother to try it. Just about anything to no have to deal with that side effect would have been great.
I've been waiting all week for Jezebel to get to this article and I'm not disappointed. Does "Paglia" translate into :headdesk: in any language?
@derek: Fantastic read! I was just recommended Dr. Reiner by my doctor and after reading this, I may take a trip to OK. This is such a misunderstood family of conditions and it's reassuring to see it presented so rationally and respectfully.
@loosesealbluth: Not if it's an intersex issue. There's more than a few bad practices when it comes to that and children.
As someone with CAH, I'm pretty I had a surgery similar to this as an infant. Like someone else has mentioned, I'd bet most of these were tied to cases of ambiguous genitalia. Not that makes it any less worse, but it sort of explains why that area was even a focus for the parents/doctors.
So female golfers are still ok to slot (ha) as lesbians. Gotcha.
@alula: i have the exact same thoughts all too frequently. reading that someone else has the same thoughts is reassuring. not the thoughts, but that i'm not alone. i was so happy to read this article and all the comments.
@MizJenkins: interesting. i've never heard that before, but i'm sure it's something i'll notice from now on. watching the Discovery Channel series "Life" has really made me take a different look at how human work. We are just mammals when you really get down to it.
@MizJenkins: something about "water tends to seek its own level" rubs me the wrong way. i think i know what you're going for, but it doesn't make it any less biting.
@Snowbunny: Thinking out loud is fun. Plus, I don't feel as weird talking to the TV when I'm alone.
@theorchidthief: but, boy o boy, some people see a big problem with it. there's such a difference between being with someone and being with people. i like "someone," but not "people."
@theorchidthief: As someone who prefers to be alone, I think it's part avoidance and part something I haven't quite worked out. The weird thing is, when I look at it objectively, I don't see too many bad points to willingly being lonely.
@Shermometer: Didn't he say they were in the top right drawer and it seemed she was digging in the top left one? Or I could be totally mis-remembering that.
I think the reason for some of the division is how some makeup wearers try to convince those of use who don't of what we're missing. I'm happy with the way I look without it. I don't want to hassle with it. I think it's great that you love it, but I don't care. It's like I'm not enough of a woman if I don't give in.
@veronykah: I just watch that a couple days ago. Zoe Bell is my new leader. And that movie is kind of a cool chick flick. In a twisted Tarantino sort of way.
@snapoversteer 'bout to get told: I'm with you. Driving that interchange twice a day lessens it's impact. Plus, I think the High Five is more dramatic. And prettier.
@Elaken: That's because we're using BMI (which isn't a good scale) to determine what is overweight or obese. It comes down to being healthy, and that's a different size for everyone.
