Oh I feel your pain. In my experience with very short hair it's usually 2 weeks til it comes good/you figure out a way to style it good. My advice is to get yourself a couple of different styling products and just rough it up to break up your ear circles. Otherwise, yeah, time (and hats and headbands) will heal :(
