There isn’t a surplus of organs. If you let someone die who can’t pay for meds someone who can pay gets to live. If you give them a transplant and they can’t pay for their meds then they die and so does someone who could have paid for it.

There’s actually nothing wrong with this. It has nothing to do with the hospital wanting money to do the surgery. It has to do with a very limited resource and how best to use it. Human hearts unfortunately do not grow on trees. There’s a list of donors and a whole range of issues once there is a compatible heart

This may shock you Mr. Crosbie but there are very few transplantable hearts to go around because there is a shortage of donors. If that fact bothers you go change your Driver’s License RIGHT NOW to specify that you are an organ donor.

NOW, since there is a very short list of available organs and a very long list of

Um, no. The letter is saying she needs a better financial plan for the medication therapy needed after the surgery. If she doesn’t have a plan in place, or isn’t able to afford the medicines she will die. The medicines are needed to keep the body from rejecting the new heart. If she can’t afford the medicines and dies

I thought this was a car site, not some SJW trash wtf guys

“Over half of the women surveyed and only 20 percent of the men are worried about being harassed while using public transit.”

Well let me be clear, by “what you think they might be”, is that men are much more likely to be attacked almost universally. In general Men are almost twice as likely to be attacked.

We are not talking about tampons or pads here. We are talking about transportation. There is no difference in price of transportation for men and transportation for women. The article states that women are more likely to decide to take different modes of transportation to make them more comfortable that is a decision

This is not a pink tax. You are paying for a service that is better than another because you choose too. Taxes are non-negotiable must pay items.

We do. The results are what you think they might be.

Men are much more likely to be attacked/assaulted in public. It’s literally nothing more than fear mongering doing what it’s meant to do

I must’ve missed the screen when i bought my metrocard where it asked me for my gender, and when i signed up for uber, and the different pricing menu on the side of the yellow cabs. Last time i checked, everyone gets charged the same rate. Now if you want to proclaim women end up paying more due to the choices they dec

It’s one of the articles premises - that’s who was the primary make-up of survey respondents.

As a male, I’m ~25% larger than the average woman. My clothes cost more and I have to spend more on food. MALE TAX! OUTRAGE! Give me a journalism award for being extremely special and good at noticing things.

Like most “pink taxes” this is not a tax. This is a choice. This article says that women chose to pay more for transportation because it makes them feel more comfortable, that is not a tax. A tax would be if Uber, Lyft, taxis or the subway charged female passengers more than males for the same service. They do not.

Feeling safe is not the same as being safe.

I disagree, it definitely costs more for a man to get around in NYC. example, each time i go out on a date, I tend to pay.   (apparently I didn’t read the article, just the headline).  :P

So all the money women don’t pay for drinks/dates gets spent on transportation instead?

Wow, that is an epic-ally flawed study design. Let’s break this down a bit:

Breaking news: When women get extra services so that they feel safer and more pampered, it costs more money. Eh, lets just blame men.
