We had a family get together after my grandmothers passing and we raced in her honor. She was the official judge and finish line when she was with us. I’m in my 40's and had thought I was in good shape and I knew we’d do it one more time so I started prepping a week in advance. Lots of water, warm baths, the whole

Exactly. I regularly deposit checks as part of my job, and the last time, I forgot to stamp the back of one of the checks - the bank staff was like “No problem, sorry this might take a few extra minutes. Do you want a free T-shirt?”

I am LMBO having seen this happen over the years, in the city and the country. When I was growing up, Dads would run around the neighborhood on summer nights and people would join in until there was a large group. A high school stadium was right there so they would sometimes run around the track.  I never knew how or

Where I grew up, that’s how the Latinos I knew settled things too. Although, the Latin and Black neighborhood intermingled a lot more due to proximity.

Last summer, I guess it was due to the pana-ramma-banana that was (and still is) going on and that first taste of being outside, but I’ve witnessed some grown-folk unleashing their “inner child” by playing rounds of “Red Light, Green Light” in the middle of the street.

This might be the blackest thing ive ever read in the Root.....and thats saying something

Quick as I am at sprinting, I’d likely drop dead at the end of the race, because old. And woefully out of shape. So...no glory in that.

I miss Atlanta FX. I wonder what surrealist episodes he will write and do for season 3.

“who wouldn’t want to be known as the “fastest human (a)live”?”

Like anyone is going to go through all that fraud for 12,000.  If you go check fraud, you do at LEAST 6 digits.. maybe 7.

I had this kind of stooge around at one time. he sucked up to the boss so hard it was embarrassing, but somehow acted like hew was like a middle manager and that allowed him to act way shittier than the boss ever did. The boss was kinda allright, but the dude was just so pathetic, everything he did reeked of

Marie, please get out of my head; I so don’t miss the passive aggressive bullshit…plus micro-aggressions I surely don’t miss either.

I mean, it certainly worked in my favor that all our company Zoom calls the last year and change have been recorded. We *had* a rather awful advisor to the company who wanted to hold court with myself and the other department heads, but each week he would say something homophobic/racist/sexist/anti-semitic/you name

Yeah I made a comment to her about that once. She never responded.

That’s straight out of The Office.

Oh my God I had an asshole sit in my boss’s office literally all fucking day. He’d sit in on every meeting even though it had nothing to do with him. Worse, he would never knock! So if a meeting started and the door closed, he’d just walk in if he wasn't invited.

I’m very concerned about this becoming a long-term effect. They’ll spin it as, “We’re giving you more time to do your housework and no commute, so you’re really getting what you want anyway.” It’s not like we have an organized labor force in this country to ensure that changing the office format is mutually beneficial

I can verify this as a fact. Now that the “office bros” can’t sit in a circle jerk with their male bosses all day for “face time”, I have noticed that women and POC are receiving a lot more praise and appreciation for their work. Turns out, when you are just evaluated purely on your work, the people (ie women and

sadly these circumstances are all too believable

I have worked remotely for over 14 years and have had a few jobs where if I had had to interact with some of my coworkers in person, there might have been bloodshed (a “macro-aggression” if you will). I suspect as the pandemic drags on the companies will realize they are MORE productive with their employees working
