That just makes me the most rationally mad I have been in a decade.

The Judge went to Stanford right?

In my opinion, I’m dismissing you for

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope you are getting whatever help you need and if and when you press charges, you get the justice you deserve, unlike what happened here.

He’ll always be Brock Turner, convicted rapist and registered sex offender.

Because he completely ignored the victim, and gave this kid (who was caught red-handed and apprehended at the scene) 3.5% of the maximum sentence... and that’s likely to get cut in half.

I typically don’t like to criticize the sentencing decisions of judges, because the news typically does a poor job of conveying the facts (like mitigating factors). That said, this sentence is atrocious and is a slap in the face of the victim and the community

It really is one of the most eloquent victim impact statements I’ve ever read.

These probation agencies who make their recommendations are a complete joke. I deal with this directly. Many of them will call the victim one or two days before their report is due, (surprisingly!) the victim doesn’t answer because it’s the middle of the work day and when they try returning the call (surprisingly!) no

Um, if you are convincing a black out drunk girl to have sex with you, you are not having sex with someone that has properly consented.

“...I’m sure he could have readily convinced a blackout drunk girl to have sex with him...”

What else did they want? He attacked her outside, there were witnesses, he was caught in the act, the evidence was 100% irrefutable. But still, a slap on the wrist, he gets to blame those drunk slutty sluts, and the judge is worried about how tough prison would be for him.

Yes, it’s an outrageous statement. He hasn’t admitted any culpability therefore it’s easy to conclude that he WOULD do it again as he doesn’t see that he did anything wrong. He is most definitely a danger to society and likely to re-offend. This judge is as bad as the rapist.

Yep. That quote from the judge -

Off the bench, judge.

The thing is, they didn’t even HAVE to listen to women. There were two men that saved her, chased him off, and acted as eyewitnesses to his crime, but his welfare is still prioritized before hers. And arguably, before the welfare of his next potential victim.

You can police every aspect of your speech, you can wear the right things, you can get all the degrees and expertise, you can write the most fucking eloquent and heartbreaking courtroom statement and still there are men who will not hear you because they just don’t listen to women.
