i disagree that rose Leslie was more interesting than kit Harrington, i always found her character pretty one dimensional, other than the unbelievably dramatic 180 in the cave to create an equally unbelievable love story. I was literally praying that we wouldn't be subjected to another "you know nothing, jon snow"

Oops, spoiler ;)

You're right, I'll be more clear. Good, respectful girls don't have sex.

Yes but we don't see it. That's the point. A lot of people are having healthy consensual sex, but we only get to see prostitutes and rape. This is most of my argument.

Benevolent? I'm not sure i see her that way.

I disagree. As did George RR Martin, obviously.

Did she actually have sex with anyone? Her first husband was gay and she hadn't consumated her marriage to joffrey.

I get your point, and thanks for remaining civil. I am just curious what was the context for daenarius getting raped by drogo?

Then why include the rape? In daenarius's case it didn't change the plot at all, in fact it interfered with it. So why is it necessary?

No, not at all. Because, as the article points out, it didn't exist in the mediaeval fantasy world of the books. These are revised details for the televised audience. So am i trying to project slut shaming into the broad, status quo consumers of HBO show? Absolutely, yes. And i don't think I'm the first to do it.

Because it plays into the idea that good girls shouldn't want to have sex, otherwise they're sluts. When consensual sex is rewritten into rape just to preserve the audience's respect for the woman (if that is the case) then it is highly misogynistic. If we prefer to see someone raped than engage in consensual sex,

A thought: I have noticed that the only women in GoT who willingly have sex are prostitutes (except rob Stark's wife, who ends up dead - and all the Starks around her- because of it). Otherwise any female character of any agency is raped. I think it must have at least something to do with 'slut shaming' -
