I think it’s a safety precaution (for both the police and person being detained) because there’s the risk that they may start acting erratically again, even if they are calm when the officers arrive on scene. From what I understand, the police aren’t (thoroughly) trained on how to deal with people in mental distress,

I was discussing this at work today and indicated a few times that I’m convinced he’s got some kind of mental illness. Yes, he’s an egomanic, but there has obviously been something much more serious going on in the background for years now, possibly either triggered or made worse by his Mother’s sudden death, and I’m

THIS. IIRC, we did something similar during WWI (with Germans) and also interred Germans and Italians in WWII.

I’m always shocked that Americans aren’t taught about this in school (I was, in Canada) and then I remember that -we- weren’t taught about Residential Schools. Is Germany really the only country that takes ownership for how horribly it behaved in the past?

It’s the cost of leaving the island that would’ve been prohibitive though. Having to pay for out-of-province medical care, a hotel, meals and travel adds up quick. Abortion wasn’t illegal in PEI, it just wasn’t really available.

I desperately want that plague mask for myself but also need to buy groceries, soooooo.

PEI recently got a clinic, like in the last few months, so that’s good. My understanding is the island is tiny so 1 clinic is better than no clinic.

Yeah, I don’t think you’re covered if you don’t live in the province and have a provincial health care card/plan there.

If memory serves, Quebec & Newfoundland don’t cover them, but I could be wrong; healthcare isn’t federal, so it depends on where you are when you need the procedure and whether or not you even qualify for provincial coverage

Same.

I would argue that Oz is worse, if only because he was actually a REAL goddamned Doctor and keeps shilling cancer cures. A LOT of my family & family friends have died of cancer and I have seen how desperate it makes people and infuriates me that someone seemingly legitimate could push something that will obviously do

Ughhhhhhhhh

He had a guest spot on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and it really bummed me out that Rachel Bloom would want that charlatan anywhere near her show.

THIS. I had a conversation with a friend yesterday and basically shut down his “medication doesn’t work” nonsense.

I feel like spanx and pantyhose are just modern torture devices and i flat out refuse to wear them. TBH, I have never even tried spanx because they seem horrendous.

Aka, The cure (cutting this person out of your life NOW) may seem worse than weathering the disease, but when you’re having THE BEST TIME at your wedding and only being stressed out by normal wedding stuff, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner :)

I have had so many shitty, self involved friends over the years that I thought cared about me more than they actually did/at all.

That’s amazing. And yeah. I’ve been hit on by teenagers and guys in their early twenties and my reaction is horror, mixed with, how can I mess with you in a funny way.

Yep. The big things I’ve noticed are forgetting where I was going with something, not being able to think of words I commonly use, more frequent headaches (I almost never got them until the head injuries started) and short term memory issues. :(
