It’s been colder than -20 Celcius in Toronto all week & worse with the windchill factor (yesterday it was -40 with the windchill). My car almost wouldn’t start this morning. There have been ads all over the radios/online/tv for people to call the city if they see homeless people out on the streets to try to get them

Apparently Alabama’s senior senator, Richard Shelby (R) went on national TV over the weekend, said he could not and did not vote for Moore in good conscience and implored republicans to cast write-in ballots nominating anyone else. This allowed hardline republicans to still -not- vote Democrat, well also not vote for

as a Canadian outsider who just googled “presidency succession” but has struggled to keep up with who’s (currently?) the worst in the Trump administration, how far down the succession line do y’all need to go until someone half-decent would be POTUS?

IIRC you have to contact them directly (they have contact info on their website) but I’m also 99% certain you can rent the whole place out.

Broken heart emoji re John Candy

How fancy/accessible does it need to be? You used to be able to rent out Wvrst (the beer hall on King W) relatively inexpensively (at or under 5k) and they can accommodate almost any diet. The biggest issue is the stairs are quite steep and it’s bench seating so anyone with mobility issues won’t be able to attend. If

If anyone is interested in listening to more about prisoner work and the dangers of wildfire fighting, check out the Reveal podcast. They recently did an exposé on forced labour at a chicken plant and an earlier one on California wildfires. PLUS the podcast in general is moving, eye opening, heartbreaking and amazing

All clothing should be black.

Yeah, I’ve done that before. I thought you could edit until the post became ungreyed but it seems I assumed wrong!

Edited to correct, I can’t recommend them ENOUGH, as in they are fabulous and I buy out the stock when the go on sale at the co-op I shop at.

Costco sells them in Canada but there are $450 which is crazy and Walmart sells them for $200 which makes me suspicious. I will likely just rely on the kindness of friends & family who regularly travel to Asia to pick up a second one for me, but for serious, they are worth the money.

ALSO, if you can get you hands on a silk filled duvet, it will change your life. They are paper thin but combined with linen sheets and duvet covers, they breath in the summer and keep the heat in in the winter and they are a dream.

Man, I love wide leg pants but be careful walking around in them. I’ve caught my feet in them before and fallen up/down stairs and ripped them at the knees and messed my legs up!

Keep your eye out for them in winners/marshalls/tj maxx if they have them where you are - I got my 100% linen duvet covers from there for less than CDN$120

I’m currently in the dry AF French alps region and if it weren’t for my Graydon Clinical Luxury skincare oils I would be TOAST, and look like to too*

You can usually find an H&M if you get stuck, or if they have them in Germany, Primark. The first time I went to Germany it was on the last leg of 3 months in Europe and I had to replace a bunch of my clothes with H&M stuff because what I had was ragged. Plus, some of the stuff should be on sale that close to/after

I -think- I went to this restaurant. It’s the best Italian i’ve ever had (outside of Italy, although it rivals the best meals I had there).

There’s also this alleyway called Camera Obsucra (I think) and there’s nothing much to do it in, but it’s neat! I spent most of my time in Berlin so if I can remember anything else I’ll let you know.

Sorry for the multiple posts - Kinja is kinjaing on me.

I loved Nuremberg! It’s really, really pretty. If you get a chance, there’s a way to go outside the walled city so you’re walking alongside it but from above and it’s like a dang fairytale! You can almost always find a kebab shop open on Mondays, although the Germans are surprisingly (to me) religious so Christmas
