Roughly half this country has a complete lack of empathy. I’m both angry and sad.
The miners are well within their rights to picket their shitty employer. But even if they weren’t, it’s still illegal for the trucks to run people over. You don’t have the right to maim people because they’re in your way.
or spike strips :)
Once again, I am wondering how our country has moved so far to vilify workers looking for....checks notes...good pay and working conditions?! Who is against good pay and working conditions?! Do they hate ice cream and puppies too?!
Yeah sure but do you think creating an atmosphere of cruelty is a wise decision ? For the prisoners or the prison employees ?
Hey, thanks to everybody for the kind words. I’ve really enjoyed writing this column for the last 8 years, and it means a lot that so many people have been regular readers (and commenters) for so long.
Try the street names in Hickory, NC.
Oof that’s rough. I had to go through a rectal probiotic treatment after I cleared the bug because the constant diarrhea pretty much destroyed all the good bacteria down there. I recovered very quickly after that.
An additional element of confusion is street names. Here in the Atlanta area, we have 40+ streets with Peachtree in the name. And some roads change names several times. But our main issue is volume.
It actually put me in the hospital. It caused an ilius in the upper intestine so I couldn’t actually digest anything. The 1961 U.S. Grand Prix that Ireland won was broadcast on a delayed basis on, IIRC, the ABC program Wide World of Sports. This was the first F1 race I ever saw on TV and came near the end of the 1961 season, when I had started to follow F1 to keep up with the exploits of Phil Hill during his championship season.
And no rotational energy dissipation. DOT test is simply dropping a weight on a helmet - rotational motion is the thing that will lead to concussions and long term brain damage. From an article in asphalt and rubber back in may 2020 - about 65-75% of accidents are caused by rotational energy, not blunt force like is…
“The ton” is an old motorcycle term for going 100 mph. “A ton” is a British slang term for 100 of anything, like a 100 pound note is a ton (or a tonner).
The souls of my vanquished enemies.
Maybe I’m missing something here, how is 200 a double ton?
Side note. If you speed in Arkansas, they will help you flip your truck. It’s a service the provide with a giant grin.
Seems silly to intentionally wreck a perfectly good car
