You would be surprised at how many people are sincerely ignorant. Sadly, such ignorance is often the result of learned behavior, and it takes a good deal of patience to explain a different moral perspective to some.

Lemme put it this way, to a lot of people (most of them already overtly racist) it validates that black people are violent and can't take a joke.
