Our habit is to leave the inside key in the deadbolt when we are home for quick exit, if necessary. and to remove the inside key from the door when we are gone - sure a burglar or FD could still get in. I hope we would react to breaking glass if we were home during a break in.

Totally agree about the socks being pulled up over the pant legs but would also advise, as a wetland field biologist for decades, to wrap duck tape between the pants and socks to help keep out the little critters. With regard to the “cheap” shower curtain, throwing it away after one use should be discouraged for the sake of the environment. Recycle if possible or buy one that can be used many times then recycle.

I use a separate amp receiver not only for quality of sound but also to channel multiple sources such as game console and a Blue-ray player that can connect to Netflex and other internet sources. Perhaps the sound bar could plug into some sort of distribution box with switches for different sources.
