I get behind the theory that the aliens weren't aliens at all, but demons, and that the reason that water worked - the water the little girl was putting around the house - was because it was holy water.

I feel like a Albert Brooks movie would work really well in audio form.

Yeah, but that's why we've got the term "Chicagoland"

That's a weird note but a true one - the artificiality and cleanness of the Dune TV show really tuned me out.

The Lynch movie runs into a pretty natural roadblock which makes it dramatically inert: that many of the characters are cold and rational, and the narrative considers that a positive most of the time.

The weird thing is that Sting gives, far and away, the most confident and capable performance in the movie. He seems to be having so much fun.

I remember it, because it really stood out as how cold Herbert can be, which is a good fit for someone telling Paul's story.

This brings up a good point, that if Dune wasn't so self-serious it could probably explain its strange concepts much faster.

As of now, I agree. But if Blade Runner does really well, then I think it has a fighting chance.

I love that I googled if this had already been done and there were quite a few.

That was a lovely way for the game to say, "hey, you're going to get to cut some throats here, but let's also recognize how much pathos can be created by the world moving on without you, and not leaving anywhere for you left."

Ah, The Saboteur. I think if that game were a little leaner and meaner it'd be a true classic.

When i got to that level I was just waiting for the thinkpieces to start flowing, and they never did. The commentary on it was really more along these lines - thoughtful, appreciative, but questions whether we should be doing this at all.

I liked that moment. BJ is somewhat self-aware that he's a hellish killing machine with only a passing familiarity with physical pain (his emotional pain seems to drown out his physical), and he decides he doesn't want to be tainted with that symbol anymore.

This is one of the best comments I've read on these boards in years.

And for the better, in my opinion.

I mean, we kind of got a peek of that in the Nice Guys.

Not before giving a speech about how climate change isn't real!

I would have been 8 in 1999 and I've seen dozens of episodes, so, I think it's definitely not an "olds-only" show now.

Clunky aiming, but I remember moving being really easy because no matter what, your weird, floaty body could just reposition anywhere in the room really quickly.
