I’m sorry, I’m really busy IRL these days, and I don’t have the time to expand on that type of debate, especially when I feel that I already made most of my points- I mean, they didn’t answer to those, and I could try to elaborate on them but would it serve any good? :( I’ve been embroiled in similar debates before,

Thank you for empathizing :) I know it’s tough to put oneself in other people shoes, but we literally have to try, because society is made up of so many different people, on so many different levels. Fear of the other leads to violence, and we all know how that turns out.

By the way, did you dismiss my messages? Is this not how debates work? ?

Not all women choose to change their name nowadays. I kept mine because I didn’t like my husband’s!

“The needs of the many” argument is very fraught, because it has been used to disastrous effect throughout history. When fear and paranoia take over, liberty suffers.

It’s NOT “a boy presenting as a girl”! Trans women ARE women. In their mind, in their heart, in their head, they ARE women. It’s just that you don’t see it by looking at their genitals.

- “to help bobby come to school as molly”: by using this expression, you make it seem very trivial for someone to be able to express his or her gender identity. Imagine if you were forced to exist as a man / woman when you *are* not. That’s what it feels like for transgender people. That’s denying a basic part of your

Everyone is in the gray. Now, people who don’t “look” feminine / masculine enough are at risk of being harassed even when they go to the “right bathroom”. And that can literally be anyone. Think of tall women with short hair and a stocky silhouette, even if they’re straight cis women.

Except that would imply that being transgender means *inherently* presenting a danger to the rest of society. Special registration for dangerous people already exists, and it’s the sex offender registry.

Speaking of history, funny to see how often and in what contexts the “protect women from sexual assault!” argument has been used. Someone please educate the guy who mentioned JFK and the moon landing. This whole situation reminds me so much of something I read recently about the Montgomery bus boycott, when people

Define “traditionally”, define “heaviest”. And know that we’re not playing misery poker here. It’s so hard to determine that it’s beside the point to try to do so. Both women and men have had to carry necessary and difficult tasks through all of history, because that’s what the human experience means.
