That’s more or less it. I’m starting to think they should be teaching a fucking supply chain course in high school. Not just economics or critical thinking but even just like a 2-3 week primer on how shit gets made. It’s mindblowing that people don’t realize that increasing the cost of any part of a product or

Kinda dumb to raise the cost of nearly everything that everyone uses, just to theoretically create 500 jobs at some podunk factory that benefits nearly nobody except for those 500 people. The laws of economy shut our factories and most people were fine with it, because it made everything cheaper to have it

I think somehow a lot of people believe that tariffs are paid by somebody else in the supply chain; or that other countries as a whole are “paying” them.  If they were called taxes they’d be toxic to the supposed anti-tax crowd.  If they were called “make you pay more for stuff with no direct benefit to you” they’d

Taxes don’t check any of those things.  It actually instantiates those things because corporate taxes apply equally, but are substantially harder to meet for smaller companies because they are less able to offshore. Get a fucking clue.

“Taxes are inherently good”

“It is impossible to overstate how stupid this proposed tariff is.”
