I think a lot of it is panic amongst the upper middle class whites who shelled out truly absurd amounts for their kids’ higher (and lower) educations, plus the backbreaking, criminal student loan racket, in order to “ensure” that their kid would get a nice, safe, six figure job. What that job was almost didn’t matter…

You see this also in the attitudes of so many middle aged-to-older people in things like how they view minimum wage jobs. “Well I worked for $2 an hour and it was more than enough, these people are just lazy/greedy/etc” - ignoring the fact that inflation has made that completely irrelevant. $2 from ‘back in the day’…

Not really seeing why any Jalopnik readers would/should be upset by this - the guy was pretty clearly violating any number of traffic laws just to get there in the first place, and at least from what it says here, I don’t see how anyone* could think it was anything but 110% deliberate.
