Not sure I’d classify Baker Miller as a coffee shop. It’s setup more as a restaurant than cafe, and small as it is I’d probably begrudge someone if I saw they were hogging an entire 4 person table for a single cup of coffee. Surely you’ve been to The Grind? It’s actually been a little bit since I’ve brought a laptop

from my reading of the series, i found the books to be less interested in the specifics of character and more concerned with the limitations of language and the complexities of identity - particularly in how we identify with ourselves. that there should be some kind of drama based on casting seems to be at least a

The Improvised Shakespeare Company is actually out of iO and it is in fact a fantastic show.

Coming in with a hot take: New Glarus is pretty mediocre beer and I have no idea why people are so hype about it.

I had a friend buy a balut (is that correct? a balut? or did she just buy balut?) off a vendor walking around a beach with a cooler. The vicious food poisoning the occurred soon after was not all that surprising. Also not surprising: no one else on the trip decided to be adventurous with partially fertilized duck eggs

I can’t remember if it was stated explicitly in the show (probably not) but it was definitely supported in interviews with the creators that the “modern dancing” was actually meant to invoke shamanistic ritual (eg. Native American dances). Modern dance, like ritual, is a kind of expression of the inexpressible. A

I went to a recent talk about gun violence in Chicago where a representative of the CPD (as well as a specialist from LAPD who was brought in for training) talked about the implementation of an algorithm (or some tool like it) to help them predict and patrol the most at risk neighborhoods, blocks, street corners and

She’s Wallace’s right-hand gal. I’m guessing its a mix of political hands-off privilege, the man having carte blanche after saving the world from starvation, and I don’t know, she probably hacked into the video surveillance or something, right? She was clearly made for this kind of thing.

Pale Fire is one of the best books I’ve read in recent memory, but aside from the visual cue I’m not sure I made much of a connection to it while watching the movie. I’m still not sure I see that strong of a connection, aside from the unreliable narrator angle, which isn’t exactly unique to that particular book.

well K did make an offhand comment about some motherf*r’s always trying to ice skate uphill now that you mention it.

same here! well maybe. there were two shows, right?

i made almost this same comment in a reply up(?) thread. totally agree on both parts!

Hanna is excellent AND has an excellent soundtrack.

i don’t disagree with most of that. but your initial comment isn’t really saying that. or its grossly misrepresenting the situation.

it’s not subtle. and it’s only virtue signaling because there’s an actual political movement to support and bolster neo-nazis in the united states. if that wasn’t the case then there’d be no need to question the cynicism of a marketing campaign about killing nazis. it’s bizarre that you think the creators of a video

I feel like y’all had this exact post a couple months ago when this first blew up. I should know. I’m Bobson Dugnutt.

too late, you eeeeediot.

the structure sounds incredibly similar to the first game. including the separation of grim mountain terrain and lush forest area. its like they just remade it but amped everything up. which i’m totally okay with!

now that you mention it though it is kinda weird ex machina isn’t on there.
