the fact you can maintain the gimmick while giving an impassioned political rant is pretty good. pretty, pretty, pretty good.

This is an interesting spread, Bubblegum Crisis notwithstanding, but the inclusion of a 20+ episode series does kind of seem to overdo it. I think Cowboy Bebop is great but I’m not sure how much is tied to nostalgia and how much is tied to believing it’s actually great, and while I probably watch it once a year, I’d…
yes, nice one. its pretty slow pacing, working more like a police procedural at times than straight up horror, but it definitely works with horror motifs and is straight up gorgeous (and as you say, unique).
Hey now, its not totally clear whether Ed is a preteen girl OR a preteen boy...so maybe, you know, just be careful, alright?
I’ve enjoyed both of them but what I really enjoy is that the all black can extends to the lid. It’s a really nice look and creates a unique package with something as simple as white text on a black background.
You’re crazy. Rob Wiethoff practically made that game as good as it was.
Lotta comments on here about shitty fans but haven’t seen a-one about super guest characters, specifically ol’ Tommy Middleditch’s incestuous-cannibal beardo, Lord Froopy himself. He always knows how to sell absurdity with aplomb.
I was pretty tepid on the books until I completely finished the trilogy. Even then I wasn’t entirely sure how I felt about them, but several weeks after I was still chewing over the themes and main ideas in a way that made me really appreciate the series as a whole a lot more. I love how the books hint at the…
i tried starring your comment because this sounds like an amazing idea but then kinja took your star away instead. i’m sorry.
boy, its a good thing I got there when I did (as in this past weekend, right around 1pm when it wasn’t insanely crowded yet, and tried the “eleven’s eggo” cocktail, which was a frozen drink that was maybe a bit too sweet and cold for an indoor bar and had a hard (stale? frozen? uncooked?) eggo in it that i didn’t eat,…
its like one of those realistic photoshop recreations of a toddler’s drawing of a person.
Having just recently been there, I can almost see how a visit to the DMV would turn someone libertarian.
I think I read Needful Things first but the one I remember enjoying the most, as a kid, was The Regulators. I’m not sure if it was actually good or not as I haven’t reread it since but the idea of a kid’s imagination wreaking havoc on a small Ohio town greatly appealed to me as a kid with an overactive imagination…
there was an article awhile back about how millenials (millleenniiiiiaaaalllls!!!!!) are killing applebee’s franchises, which i found preposterous as applebee’s doesn’t need anyone’s help to destroy itself.
what, do you write introductions for cookbooks or something?
germany isn’t particularly well known for its variety, but its is known for its brewing standards (reinheitsgebot). that’s why you’ll generally only find a limited offering, although you know they’ll be pretty solid. but as you more or less say, and nice guys have found out time and time again, dependability isn’t…
guess you could say that for any hobbyist pursuit.

I’d recommend Sukiyaki Western Django. I’m not sure I’d call it “good” but its certainly one of his funner, less disturbing features. It’s a play on the Dollars trilogy I think, which itself was a play on Yojimbo, so its sort of a weird bastardization of influences.
This reply reminds me of the excellent book, “Mountains Beyond Mountains” by Tracy Kidder. Partners in Health seems to be relatively well funded these days but the sheer force of will, luck and tenacity it took to make that organization work is a bit miraculous really. Seems like it represents the exception rather…
