I’m really sorry that she lost her kid, but if the first thing that she does is yell racial slurs at a reporter, I feel like she’s probably not a particularly good person. English is language of many many excellent insults. Racial slurs do not need to be the first thing that you yell.

Eh. I’m not even saying that the idiot is in any way justified. Just that media tends to, even by being there, lead to more emotions. That lady is clearly a racist asshole.

Yeah, setting up a news truck in someone’s yard is intrusive, don’t you think? I didn’t, however, say that the reporter was being deliberately intrusive. But the trucks and the process itself is naturally intrusive. It’s naturally inciting.

Another thing not noted in this article, after the guy was shot by police, he was rushed to the small town hospital, which they ended up having to put on lock down because the family of the guy was acting crazy and out of control.

Huh. I read this very differently than you did — it sounded to me like, “I could empathize if she was simply angry at the reporters, but since she was also hurling racial slurs, I really can’t.”

Really? The people doing their jobs and getting attacked aren’t worth rooting for?

“ I’m certain I wouldn’t hurl slurs.” Don’t be lazy; read all the way through the third sentence. Then comment.

First, I hope the journalists are supported and strengthened by the public, their employers, families, friends, and strangers. This is a horrific thing to endure and their wellbeing is the most important piece of the fallout from this incident. They deserve bonuses, time off, therapy (if they need it), and a big

You mean you think you might call a black reporter who was there reporting the story the “n” word?

I understand someone lost a child and they are upset. But, at no point is ever acceptable to say and do what she did. I’m a reporter (for a paper not TV) she was doing her job. This wasn’t just a shooting, it was a shooting with police involvement. Which is a big deal. At no point was this reporter in the wrong.

Poor Victor. I wonder if she was thinking about Alison Parker and Adam Ward, who were shot to death doing their jobs as local reporters less than a year ago.

but suffice to say Victor maintained a superhuman degree of poise during the ordeal.

I understand that her son was dead and obviously she was grieving, and people often don’t like to see reporters at the scenes of tragedy, feeling like they’re vultures. I’ve actually held back a screaming friend when reporters showed up after our friends died.

I can understand why the mom would be angry, but goddamn why go after the reporters in such a way?

I’m sure I’d be distraught if a family member had been shot. I might be angry at reporters calmly treating my anguish as a “story.” I’m certain I wouldn’t hurl slurs.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

But are you guys still fucking or...?

My reaction to your comment as it went through my head.

I gave my brother a tub of shea body butter and he said his life is changed. The importance of moisturizing just can’t be understated.
