As noted above - Cellular data is where it's at in Japan. The reason that SK has such a need to wifi is because of it's rabid online game base. People post up and play games so places offer wifi to paying customers. In Japan they have a much better cellular data infrastructure and people usually just use their phones…

Actually Wifi is on it's way out in Japan BECAUSE everyone is using cellular data. They have a much better cellular infrastructure in the cities and you can get high speed data there very cheaply. For the most part Free wifi is for poor people who don't have cellphones.
