Well, as I do more research, I found this (if anyone is interested). I read the Invisibles when it came out, but I guess I still don't know/care if it's true. Morrison always took an extraordinary amount of credit for a lot of things.

I never really got where Grant Morrison was coming from re: Matrix rip off of the Invisibles. The Invisibles took obvious influences from a variety of sources, as well. It seemed just as like the Wachowski's had read a lot of the same stuff as Morrison had.
I wish someone pick a song that is actually considered good by critics. It's such low hanging fruit. Let's get like "Street Spirit" or fucking "dark side of the moon" in here. Unless I missed a hate song where they actual hate a critical darling. Link if they did, because I'm too lazy.
I'm not sure how that relates to what I'm writing. I was just writing that the title is why reactionary white people are mad about it (apparently), not that it's a show that centers on black people.
Ok, I'm rarely enthusiastic about PKD adaptions, but this could be really good if they stick to the material. A lot of his work is just an interesting idea padded into a novel, so an anthology could work really well. And Ronald D. Moore!
Oh, I know.
Yeah, and it's probably not a reasonable thing to think that it should change its name. I don't even know if I necessarily think they should change it. But it just seems like it doesn't fit the content so much anymore. Maybe this is also just another symptom of my hatred for the trend of "Dear___" think pieces.
Sure, but I think my point still stands. I don't think it would be completely crazy to want to use a title that was more indicative of the content as it is. I don't think that people who liked the movie would suddenly be like, "nah." But, you're right, publicity is publicity. Although, I'm out of it, and haven't paid…
I think this sounds interesting. But I wonder if the title "Dear White People" makes sense anymore as it seems to first not be aimed at white people at all. As the Ray-Harris wrote, "White characters aren’t painted as horrific villains out to destroy our
black heroes. Rather, they’re treated, well… like black…
I think it sounds good too, but I think if it were called something other than "Dear White People" there would be far less outrage about it (misguided as it is). I don't think it's because it doesn't focus on white people: otherwise we would see that on other ostensibly "black shows."
you'd also be amazed by how worthy of consideration I am. Amazed!
ok. I guess my disclaimer didn't work. Sorry to ruin your day! I hope your enjoying it better now!
true, but in a way, I'm interested in the question of ignoring work like this and what it means. Is it in itself obnoxious to people? It's all personal musings. All of it. The fact that people think there's objectivity to any of this is bizarre. I honestly don't think of myself as an elitist. However, I'm sure by…
Boredom at work probably? People are taking it seemingly seriously. It's not really a gimmick though.
I have to ignore a lot of things, otherwise I would go insane. This isn't a value judgement. I don't pay attention to critically lauded polka albums either (I'm sure they're good too).
Oh, I enjoy A LOT of things. Probably some things you enjoy even.
Thanks!
I do! I've included it below:
Don't read this, because it's irrelevant: I'm sure this is probably good, and that people really like it. But I do like the idea of being out of the loop and probably never consciously hearing it. Same with the last lauded pop albums by Radiohead and Bon Iver and Beyonce or whatever else. I don't have to have an…
Nice. yeah, if you haven't heard the Andre O Moller stuff on EW, it's actually quite active; his organ work is really great, and overwhelming. I also really love almost all of the Eva-Maria Houben stuff they put out. Gravity Wave is almost always interesting, but I'm actually less of a Pisaro fan than a lot of people…
