Starred for Glühwein
Starred for Glühwein
Ours is on a Monday. Apparently, several years back, they did it on a Friday and the resulting drunkenness was an HR nightmare. So, Mondays it has been for the past four years. Oh, and we each get one (1) drink ticket. Food’s always really good though. And we get to leave early Monday afternoon to “get ready,” which…
I think another issue with ghosting is that it assumes that the other person is just ‘too into you’ in a pretty delusional way.
Between Thanksgiving with my family and my husband’s family, the idea of calling her office is giving me life right now.
It’s the same shit everywhere. Some states just spray some febreeze around so you don’t know that there’s shit everywhere until you step in it.
I am literally cry-laughing right now.
Standing. Fucking. Ovation.
Now Valerie. Stop trying to make mountains out of mole hills. All I said was that I saw on the news about how some malls had black men dressed as Santa, and that it made me laugh because, to me, that seems ridiculous. That doesn’t make me a racist. Can’t we all just have a nice Christmas Eve dinner?
Thanksgiving ‘08, I went home and, at the table, Obama’s election obviously came up. And a relative said, “It’s just so weird to see someone like Obama wearing a fancy suit.” And I (coughing up corn) asked, “What do you mean by that?”
That museum is incredible.
Someone already replied to you with examples, but remembrances are everywhere. Some hidden in plain sight that may not be super obvious to foreigners. But even in Munich I had plenty of, “Hmm let me read this historical placard/engraved brick, oh holy shit!” moments.
Having lived all over this country and now living in “The South,” I will also say some of the most clueless folks are the ones from my old “liberal elite” areas. Some of which went red this past election.
Yeah, I saw a lot of selfies going on there and was like wtf. But the memorial itself is breathtaking and impactful. You literally get lost in that thing.
And the concentration camps ain’t fucking around. You go there, and you come out horrified and changed. You walk into a building and read the placard and it’s like, “Exactly where you are standing is where camp prisoners were shot via a hole in the wall (behind you).”
Yep. In Germany, you can’t walk three blocks without tripping over a holocaust memorial. And they didn’t turn their concentration camps into “nostalgic,” “charming,” “historical” places to host weddings, like we did with plantations.
Your kid did more than most adults I know would. Your kid gives me hope.
And please, teach your children to stick up for kids getting bullied. Role-play with your kids so they can practice reacting to someone getting bullied instead of just standing by. Tell them it’s normal to want to ignore it and act like it’s “not their problem,” but tell them they can be better than that. Ask them who…
I am not surprised this woman voted for Trump.
OK if she’s just a shitty human in all aspects and has no redeeming qualities and is a drain on your life and happiness, then away with her.
If you are a marginalized person who will personally be affected by what Trump promised in his campaign platform, nobody will blame you from doing a little social pruning.
