There’s really no such thing as 100% anti-abortion. The people who say that *always* find exceptions that have nothing to do with the woman’s life or health. Their exceptions are for themselves if they happen to be women, their daughters, their sisters, their nieces, their best friends. Everybody else in that

That’s always tough with family. I like to follow that up with “should a baby be a punishment?” And “ what does your god/religion say about making mistakes and forgiveness?”

I think it’s very appropriate casting, because both Pratt and Mario seemed cool at first, then it became apparent they were overrated.

Thanks.

I also want to hug the Corgis. We are of one mind on all of the above.

best of luck hon

Oh my lord, what a horror show.  I simply cannot imagine doing the work you do, and doing it with people who won’t even bother to get a vaccination.  I salute you.  Also, I want to hug the corgis ;-).

Hi Julia—and wow, what a rollercoaster. I’m so glad that you’ve found a new partner who makes things happier. That’s a big deal. And it sounds like your living situation has become a bit less stressful (knock on wood) so I’m glad of that too. Let yourself enjoy the good things—and dear lord I’m sorry about your family

So, Updates

I’m sure she was a good judge at some point, but the fact is that you don’t have to be very good to sit on the Supreme Court. First, SCOTUS decisions are not reviewable, so it’s not like they need to persuade a higher court; second, these people don’t really persuade or influence each other’s decisions—the Justices

*peeks up from behind table* “Thanks a lot for not retiring in 2015, Ruth Bader Ginsberg!!!” *ducks back behind table*

I don’t think most Americans realize that Biden has a terrible record on reproductive freedoms. He was anti-choice for literal decades until he decided being president was more important. He supported the Hyde amendment until he realized that he wasn’t going to get the nomination unless he opposed it. Even though

Biden is overwhelmingly, aggressively committed to doing as little as possible as president. I wonder if he’s just worried about his legacy and doesn’t want to be seen as The President Who Overreached?

I think a BIG BIG portion of blame for this lies on upper-middle income white suburban women all over the country who are pro-life, and refuse to own up to it.  Even though they KNOW the inherent risk in banning abortions, their “Christian” faith prevents them from logically understanding how detrimental this is.

Court reform!!! Seriously that is our only option. I saw this as a civil rights litigator. We are doomed otherwise. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of expanding the court, there are other court reform proposals out there, like rotating term limits that would allow each presidency to get justices on the court.

Same. I kept my married last name after divorce because it’s the same name as my three kids and the name I used professionally as an attorney for 10 years, it’s my name.

My mom did the same thing.

That’s not surprising to me at all. One of my friends divorced her husband but kept his name so she would have the same last name as her kids.

Because in mental healthcare, respect for autonomy is still a basic guiding ethical principle. Ye maintaining autonomy through what he’s described as episodes of a disorder isn’t an ethical failure even if it leads him down an odd, scary, or isolating path, unless it causes direct physical harm to himself or someone

I totally sympathize. I’m lucky in that I don’t have asthma, but I’ve had severe seasonal allergies all my life that start around May and don’t end until the temperature starts to drop below freezing at night (around here in VA, that’s usually around November). I also have a weird sensitivity to heat, so even without
