Now playing

I was at a Pioneer League game in 2008 between the Billings Mustangs and Missoula Osprey. The home plate ump was injured, leaving only one ump to call the game. He called it from behind the plate, running as much as he could to try to see each and every play.

Sad thing is, the Great West used to be a respectable FCS conference, the prior home of current powerhouse NDSU and respectable programs in UC Davis, Cal Poly and South Dakota State. I feel bad for NJIT, who kinda resurrected themselves from that awful losing streak and now will be without affiliation again...

There's no more UND Sioux in college hockey, but basketball still has UND-SUU. North Dakota topped Southern Utah to move on to the Big Sky semis in Missoula, MT

+1 and I'm a forever optimistic Wizards fan

I'm not sure he's really into any popular underdogs. He'll gush over the stories they create, sure, but he doesn't come close to projecting any of them to ever win any meaningful games. His brackets are the chalkiest of them all, usually...

Typical weekend activity for 'Haz. I've seen him at a local mall out there in Sterling and a few other people I know have seen him at various retail outlets there as well. He's never with anyone, always has this sorta bored or empty expression.

Facsimile autos, but nonetheless cool. I remember getting one of these on a family trip to up to Victoria, B.C. Still have one of the cards, it's bent to hell in some box somewhere...

I saved the Griffey bar for years in the fridge. Ate it in 1999, as fresh as it was new. That is, it tasted like cheap advent calendar chocolate.

So essentially "no news" is still news to the Trib? I don't see how giving USA Today essentially nothing is a complete diss to the local outlets.

This minimalist "change" cannot stand! I've had enough of the continued use of the culturally insensitive Vikings name and logo.

Can't tell if this is sarcastic or not, but the most popular team blog is "Bullets Forever" so yeah... That and their has been a major push to bring back the Bullets name, at least to some degree. For what it's worth, they brought back the old color schemes and have played in Bullets retro gear to satiate the fans

I grew up in Montana and there were various towns dotted throughout the state that were mostly Native American. It's funny how many Redskins jerseys, jackets and hats you'd see when passing through those towns. What'll really be funny is when they change the team name and you silence the voices of likely a majority of

Please tell me these will be in NBA 2K13 too...

Two criminally underrated here - Boston Creme (should be No. 1) and more love for the powdered. Have you ever popped one of those mini powdered donuts and slammed it down in one or two bites? Despite being a choking hazard, this is actually the preferred way of eating it.

I assume Bob missed the entire press conference after fiddling with this photo for 40 minutes...

It seems the internship program with the Pyongyang Times has paid big dividends for the Northern Illinois Sports Information Department.

It's funny to see how the popular view of steroid use in baseball has changed so drastically. The last 5-10 years everyone was so quick to condemn these players as shams and now we are calling for a re-write of the rulebook to get these players in. One wonders if the MLB had the NCAA's penchant for taking stats off

Little did I know that going to a Washington Wizards game would be the sports world's best bet last night...

This will take its natural course in time no matter what anyone does about it now. These players will ultimately come down to the scrutiny of the veterans committee when all of us are (hopefully) collecting social security checks. Baseball isn't changing anything and baseball isn't defining how one is "supposed" to

I also ate there once. I second the OK.
