Castile just illustrated exactly what happens when cops come across armed black men. Cops freak out and kill them.

Right. It’s one thing to argue that people — or The People — have a right to civilian gun ownership. But to come onto the NRA’s channel and lend them legitimacy when they were unwilling to support Philando Castile and straightforwardly say that officer Yanez should have been sent to jail is fucking bullshit.

Had anyone from the NRA said word one in support of Phillandro Castile when he was murdered, I’d be marginally more open-minded in their legitimacy as a platform for minority advocacy.

he recently told his children, “On the school walkout: ‘I love you—if you walk out that school, walk out my house...’

Wait, so Timmy and Tina are still small children when Jason goes to heaven? So, kids in heaven who are aborted do grow up, but they just kinda stop at like, age 8 or something, and just wait for random friends of their parents to come along and play football with them?

Terry is not going to backdown from violent backlash. Terry is fighting the good fight. Terry is a fucking national treasure. NINE NINE!

Suggestion for a possible redesign?

Is this a good place for me to threadjack and post a video of Paget Brewster reading one of the filthiest letters he sent Nora?

Watch and you will not begrudge me for it, I promise. Simply amazing.

Strongly disagree. Frida really was a classically beautiful woman in most ways, and with minimal effort should could have easily been known as a “great beauty” but I think she maybe was even a little contemptuous of the very concept of a “classical female beauty”— Frida was strong in her own sense of beauty, and many

Some of it may have to do with Frida Kahlo’s political leanings — she joined the Mexican Communist Party in 1927, and now her image is being monetised for a large corporation’s profit. I’m not horrified or astonished by this but the irony is somewhat wry and unpleasant. What’s next? An Emma Goldman Barbie?

Do you really think that Hyak was “prettier?”

Yup, a woman who did amazing art a lot of which was inspired and celebrated by her unconventional looks get turned into a Barbie doll that looks nothing like them. You can’t pretend to celebrate a person by making a doll that goes against everything that made them inspirational in the first place.

I don’t see why this doll has to exist.

For those that don’t understand the big deal about her unibrow: She made a huge point in purposefully emphasizing her facial hair because she despised western beauty standards. Erasing that is erasing a large and very important part of who Frida was, as a person.

It’s also kind of crappy they’re completely ignoring the

This is Frida Kahlo as she saw herself. Note the lack of eyebrow shaving. Note the lack of upper lip waxing or bleaching. Note the look of “I don’t give a fuck about your beauty standards”. This “Barbie doll” version of her is an abomination.

Yes. It’s her defining feature, and she emphasized it in all of her self portraits.

Also, needs more back brace.

I cringed when I saw the ad for this. So we’re supposedly honoring these women for their accomplishments, but only after giving them the usual unrealistic and unhealthy bodies as all of the other Barbies.
