Well, the US alone spends 122 Billion a year on hunger relief. Not sure how 6 billion more is supposed to be the tipping point for the rest of the entire world

Yeah. But he didn’t say “I fly you to Mars and then you work for me to pay it off.” He said “You will be able to take out a loan to fly to Mars (didn’t say from him) and you’ll be able to get a job to pay it off (didn’t say working for him) because there will be lots of jobs there.”
Another Elon Musk hit piece? Wow, Gizmodo has only published 3 others of those today. Good thing we got this one too.
Like or dislike Musk all you want, but if 44 Billion could solve world hunger, world hunger would be solved 10x’s over since the UN alone spends more than that every year to combat hunger. Not to mention all the money the US spends, as well as hundreds of charities all around the world.
Except he said there would be loans for people who want to go and plenty of jobs on Mars. Look, we’re not going to colonize Mars by 2050, that’s ridiculous, but if you read what he tweeted, it was about a fully functional colony, with a fully functional economy, and he said “yes, people who want to take out a loan to…
I mean, everyone will have their own opinion, but the Dell XPS 13 gets the most nods for “Best Windows Laptop” across multiple sites (like this one, The Verge, Wirecutter, etc), which is why I listed it as such.
This comment reminds me of Redditors on /r/science who see a headline on a study, and then immediately start going “I wonder if they controlled for this variable?”
Throwing out an accusation that he made racist tweets should be backed by evidence. Calling someone a “racist” is not just a general attack on someone. Unless I missed it in this write-up, you simply said it.
I’d say you’d be better off cutting some of those other wedding expenses, then cutting a fun proposal (if both you and the fiance would find it fun).
While flight attendants should be paid more, the way they are paid is not illegal. The total time they are working is tracked, and if total amount paid/total number of hours worked fell below minimum wage, then it would be illegal. It’s still scummy, and it should be changed, but it’s not illegal.
But also... good.
No it’s not. Yes, A&W hired them. But their report was not released, nor did they make a claim about findings. The CEO made this claim about the research. It could be fabricated, or even just one person in the focus group put that down and he ran with it. Or it could be real, but seems unlikely.
I’m guessing the main use is for people who fly out of a regional, to a hub, to somewhere else. So, it’s just replacing your first flight.
I’ve never been to MI, but I’m guessing they made it easy? In CA, you have to set aside an hour+ of your day to get your deposit back, and you maybe get $2/mo if you took them all back.
I don’t want to get into this whole thing, but will talk about one part of it:
It is a bit of an upfront investment, but it really does help to use smart home devices which use a hub, instead of directly connecting to your Wi-Fi. Easier to control them all (especially say, if you decide to change your wi-fi password), and doesn’t use your bandwidth.
I live in CA, where 5ish years ago, they “banned single use plastic bags” at grocery stores. And something I can’t find- did this actually reduce the amount of plastic used? My guess is... no.
The salad bar hasn’t went away, and shouldn’t go away, and we knew early on in the pandemic that surface transmission is not a common way COVID is spread, and yet people still did all sorts of stupid “surface transmission” health theater.
I mean, Disney is just following the lead of all of the States they’re in. CA just dropped their indoor mask mandates. Why no snark towards the CA governor?
