Its the most amazing nonsense I have ever read. I don’t even hate the 3rd party voters that went for Stein as much as the idiots that voted for someone that was the direct opposite of what they stand for.
Had Elizabeth run I could have cast a vote for a nationalist, a populist, a thoughtful and honorable person who carries with her no sense of superiority or pretension.
This. The false equivalencies this cycle were amazing.
I voted for him because I felt that he would do an absolutely terrible job and would alienate the republican base so badly that it had no choice but to face facts and accept that conservative economic models do not help them.
Had Elizabeth run I could have cast a vote for a nationalist, a populist, a thoughtful and honorable person who carries with her no sense of superiority or pretension. She is noble in her actions and usually in her words. Hell, she wrote a personal finance book that is still working its way through my mind.
Also, this:
The DNC didn’t anoint her as anything. The Democratic Party voted for her.
She was the chosen candidate of the DNC in 2008 too and she still lost. If Bernie had run a better campaign and Clinton hadn’t spent 30 years creating a network of political pros at her disposal, he would have won.
Clinton 65,844,954
“Someone remind me why Sanders’ inner circle wrote off the South again?”
“Clinton tries to ally herself with the “common folk,” but she comes of as pandering and fake. Trump does it too, but at least he seems real, especially when he is eating KFC.”
Got to rush into that vacuum of power as fast as they can. Everybody pay the eff attention and keep your reps on speed dial, please. All kinds of bushwa is going to come from all these sleazes.
I agree. So many acquaintances mocked me in the last year because I kept lecturing about the importance of Midterms. I was met with either “we don’t participate in a ‘corrupt’ system” or “it’s unrealistic to expect people to care about Midterms.”
“I am completely shocked that one of the most disturbing things our government has done since Trump was elected has nothing to do with him.”
I don’t know what’s worse, really - a die-hard conservative who flat-out says fuck you, or a wishy-washy “moderate” one like I have (Susan Collins) who speaks out of both sides of her mouth constantly - and almost always votes in lockstep with her party.
The full house is voting on this today. Call the local office of your representative and tell them to vote against weakening this office.
I am completely shocked that one of the most disturbing things our government has done since Trump was elected has nothing to do with him.
I think those of us with GOP reps are going to have to not just complain loudly and constantly, but make it clear that unless they are publicly and explicitly against moves like this, we voters will assume the worst of them. My rep’s office wouldn’t tell me how he voted. Not that I really ever trusted the motherfucker…
It does appear that this has nothing to do with Trump. . . .but I have some (completely unsubstantiated) suspicions that he (or his team) had some influence here.
I likely shouldn’t be, but I am absolutely SHOCKED at how quickly things have turned south. I keep using this word but it’s true, it’s all quite frightening.
