It’s hilarious and very very Kardashian to plan an announcement like that. But it genuinely fucking sucks that that’s how her mom found out (presumably she was going to tell her before sending out the emoji).

How to cook I guess?

I’m so glad I’m not alone on that font thing. I thought this said POP-LIP when I saw the original piece. Even looking at it now, knowing it says Pop-UP, it still looks like Lip to me.

Don’t worry ladies:

A size of a blueberry that basically looks like a raspberry when it's been passed in a miscarriage. Not like those little dolls that are fully formed but mini humans. No way would anyone recognized that as a fetus.

It’s definitely not discussed enough and it’s definitely not something that can be really explained by a layman (which is why popular write ups and videos on it generally so profoundly miss the point). When I’m at a computer I’ll see what I can do in the way of links.

Oy. There’s a lot out there — I would put links here but I’m on my phone. You could start with reading about why a consortium of scientists around the globe called for science to stop genetic research — literally asking scientists to stop moving forward because of fears of what was to come (there were a bunch of write

This is why the “they’re favoring men” media freak out over only treating male fetuses with mitochondrial diseases drove me up the wall. It was explicitly because if anything went wrong the genetic change wouldn’t be passed to future generations. Not some grand patriarchy shut down of women’s health.

Do they make you follow a script? Because I would sign up if they would let me just rant about Trump and then ask for money.

I went to the ballet a few years ago and the main ballerina, who was great, looked so painfully familiar that it was killing me the entire first act. During intermission I looked her up and it was Julie Kent (the older, professional ballerina in the movie).

The above article says she cited sculptural hairstyles from around the world. That's hardly specific.

I suspect this is more the reason. They DO look similar and it was their way of saying “we were doing this hairstyle decades ago look how cool we are!” If Lupita didn’t mention who inspired the do, I can see Vogue just running with it to play themselves up.

The cognitive dissonance involved is truly remarkable.

It’s incredibly optimistic and naive to say “don’t do this lets just focus on fixing the reasons for unwanted pregnancy and it will all be OK.”

Don’t hold your breath.

The law may only have been used 40 times in Texas over 7 years, but given that in the 10 months before it was passed, 13 babies were found dead in Houston trash bins I’d say it may have been worth it.

This analogy is way, way off base. This is coming from someone who stopped reading the site for almost an entire year after the Dunham thing.

Consider her slogan, “Fighting for us.” For many men, this slogan would have to be experienced as emasculating. A woman fighting for them?

I’m kind of surprised the new law isn’t something like “cannot be near middle and high schools but mandated to be next to day care centers where women will be forced to spend one hour holding a sleeping baby while cooing gently to it before they can undergo an abortion.”
