Yeah, I'm not really a fan of nerd worships cool guy friendships but I think Jake/Charles works because a) Jake is legitimately supportive of and cares about Charles and b) Charles's hero worship of Jake is so over-the-top, it crosses the line of pathetic straight back into hilarious again.

Did people think he was ugly before? He's always been pretty cute to me.

Brooklyn 99 is far closer in tone to The Simpsons than Barney Miller. I don't think they ever intended to do searing social commentary, nor do I think this is the ideal form to do it in. The times they have addressed real-world issues, it's always been deeply rooted in character and I just don't get the feeling

Friends doesn't get enough credit for the masterful work it did balancing its cast. Ross and Rachel ate up a lot of screentime in the first two seasons, but the show more or less gave everyone equal opportunity to shine. Everyone got a good mix of the A, B and C plots and silly subplots vs. big character episodes.

It's a fine line between enthusiasm and creepiness and they came dangerously close in this ep. Jake/Boyle are a dynamite duo though, if just because it lets Jake be the straight man/good friend bouncing off Boyle's insanity once in a while.

The way Andy says the word 'cocaine' never fails to make me laugh. It's so jaunty!
