I would've read it as a joke if there had been a third unnecessary, superfluous, gratuitous adjective.

Isn't one of the adjectives in this sentence of the review superfluous and/or unnecessary?
"…a visual version of the narrative wouldn’t have to worry about sentences overloaded with clunky phrases and superfluous, unnecessary adjectives."
