Don’t forget cost of ingredients. Even just for sorbet, a pound or two of fruit will run a few dollars. It is still a good investment if you use it a lot and if you enjoy it. I bet it would pay for itself in a year or so if you can find one for $150 that makes good product, even factoring in other costs.

It’s a slightly taller hatchback. What’s wrong with that? Sedans are trash

Your arithmetics need work. 12,500 miles per year at 25mpg = 500 gallons of gas consumed. At 20c / gallon, that would be $100 collected in gas tax. Exactly half of what they are proposing to charge the EV owners.

The money is gone, and has been gone for decades. There is not a single state, nor the federal government, that collects enough for road maintenance via gas tax. Closest is Hawaii at less than 75%. Natural average is 53%.

If you use the US DOT average miles driven per year of 13,476 that means basically everything short of a V8 Raptor or Ram TRX will cost less in road tax than an EV in Texas. If you bought a regular Civic and just did highway miles you would only pay $67 in road fuel tax.  EV owners are getting screwed.

I cant remember the article, but people with lower wage jobs are more likely to live further from their jobs and less likely to work from home.  A per-mile tax will put an additional burden on the less well-off.  Something does need to be done though, it will take creativity.

Another good idea poorly executed. A better and more fair option would be to delete the gas tax and make both types pay a per-mile-driven tax based on weight and size. If you want to encourage ev adoption, keep the gas tax but call it a carbon tax and use those proceeds for healthcare.

Sure, just what we need. Slash the budget for the already crippled infrastructure repairs. That'll fix things

It’s pretty easy to repo a Harley - you sign up at the owner’s office as a patient, book an appointment for a filling on a sunny day, and you know they’ll be waiting in the office and the Harley will be out front parked nearest the clinic door.

Certainly the Harley owners who can’t keep up with the payments.

I wonder if it’s more dangerous all around repo’ing Harleys, I imagine the ven diagram of Harley owners and itchy trigger fingers is pretty high.

I know that the Cayman is the benchmark for this price point and class of car. But they’re a dime a dozen. If the Emira is as good as you are saying, I’d buy it in part, because it’s not the Cayman. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Porsche. But, this just seems a little more special.

I will both proudly and embarrassingly admit I own the box set with the Cylon helmet. Can’t help it, it was my favorite sci-fi series growing up...

I mean, the Type-R is already $45k so....I can’t see this being less than $50k. Maybe they’ll price the base no-options model at $49,995 just to say it’s under $50k, but even there an M340i is $55k base.

I was hoping for a little extra over the Type-R in the form of AWD, 320hp/310tq is a lot to ask for a front wheel drive car, especially if you’re going to ask more money than what Audi is asking for an S3.

Last time I checked there was a NON-infinite amount of petroleum in the ground, so there is that issue also.

Bah. This is all histrionics from Stellantis.

I just want slide shows to contain motorweek clips
