I think there’s a solution to this; tie police pay to civil rights violations lawsuit payouts. Put overtime budget or annual bonus money in a pool, and make all the lawsuit payouts come out of that fund first. Have you seen the video? These recruits were running 3-4 abreast, 25-30 deep, and the car plowed into them like bowling pins. I don’t think I’ve seen the speed mentioned but from the looks of it, I’d say it’s at least 40 mph. It really is amazing that nobody died.
