He does see them again to get the prophecies, iirc

They are different things - both are of their time, maybe, and personally I loved this new version even more than Polanski's. It's more beautiful and more concerned with being cinematic. I think it's reasonable they both exist.

wow, that's some interesting kerning.

True love ( since his wife seems to have kinda vanished now) ?

Given how meh Spectre is, and how good M:I5 (hah) was, looks like he did it!

Oh I know nothing about boats. Or ships or even what the difference is. The first one is the most jargony - after that it gets easier and more confidently about the story. I want to reread them just talking about them!

And Patrick O'Brian! Nothing is as good as Patrick O'Brian.

I still really like them both. I really rate Russell. It may be unfashionable ofme though

I have that exact problem, it's distressing. Reading used to be the one thing I could rely on and I can barely do it any more.

Heh. I guessed who it was and then had to count the letters and work out the phrase. Crossword clues often go that way for me too.

Spectre is stupid and I've forgotten most of it - I had forgotten it five minutes after leaving the cinema - except seeing London on film makes me increasingly sad these days.

Strickland is great. Really interested to see what he does next.

aww, that's very sweet of you, thank you.

Or a simpler solution - eat less meat. No one needs to eat meat at all. We're not cats. Many people and societies manage just fine as vegans and vegetarians. Perhaps future generations will have a different attitude. The current population's vast, repulsive greed for meat and dairy is new; previous societies understood

edit: It's freaking me out a bit. I thought they'd changed it but they didn't which is making it worse. I need to step away from the screen evidently.

Where's all the Grunkle Stan/Lazy Susan stuff? The Stanford/McGucket slash? The Blubs/Durland romances? fic writers are so grossly ageist.

I loved Kid A to death, but it holds so many memories of happier times I don't think I could listen to it now. :(

Oh my goodness I love Over the Garden Wall. My friend who loves Gravity Falls too (we went out on Hallowe'en as Mabel and Dipper) recommended it to me and I fell in love with it. It's just so perfectly sweet and beautiful (except for Wirt's triangle nose - what's up with that?!) and I love the music and the voices and

I have read a few SPQR - I like Davies better but maybe because I've read all of them, so have seen how she developed. I need to read more SPQR. I think the main difference is British writer/American writer, in a weird way - Davies seems to give a kind of English sensibility to her writing, which is odd given that

Of course, I completely agree. Was just using it as a lazy shorthand for a believable reaction.
