This is why when I stream, I don’t use a camera, and I’m content with 8-or-so people watching/chatting genuinely with me. As a girl with an admittedly larger-than-most chest (that I fucking hate), I’m not dealing with the toxic bullshit. I deal enough with my own anxiety and my own insecurity. I don’t need dickholes

I take my clothes off every night. Sometimes I even take them off in front of other people. This does not mean you get to take my clothes off without asking me because “it’s the sort of thing people like you do all the time”.

Had it happen to me once while I was streaming Counterstrike for several friends. Just me sitting there in my t-shirt with no makeup, and all of a sudden there’s a spike in my viewer count and a deluge of comments that were... well, you can imagine what it was like.

So they deserve sexist comments when they stream basically nude? Do they? Do they really?

Dear Douchebags on Twitch,

Ok, so they are giving you a warning, not an approval to act like a total dick face.

...said just about every sexual predator in the history of the world. “She showed her ankles, so she was simply asking for it”.

Always gets me how these guys could develop this type of borderline sexual predator/rapist mindset and not get called out on it more. A lot of their justifications for their behavior is straight out of the convicted rapist handbook.

I look at it this way. You and your buddy are walking down the street and spot a beautiful woman. Are you going to go up to her and say “I’m going to bend you over and fuck you in the ass because you look like the type that likes it.”

Every story I see regarding Twitch makes me think that avoiding it is the wisest plan. It seems like a giant thirst trap.

Ah yes, good ol’ “making fun of a girl because you secretly like her” bullshit. It was bad enough when I was a kid, pulling on pigtails, but now these brats have a platform that lets all their jackass cronies get in on it. And, like before, the girls could just as easily make fun of the guys in return, but they have

As someone who have played games for over 25 years I am becoming more and more tired of the whole “gamer culture” that starts to seep into every aspect of the hobby. When I was a young being into games wasn’t even a subculture at all, it was just a bunch of people who liked PC and video games. Know it have morphed

Shit like this makes me feel like the only way I could ever stand to stream on twitch is wearing basically a blanket over my face and body. maybe some voice disguising software.

Oi. I know we have been policing women forever, and I saw it first hand growing up when religious leaders tried to police how women dressed for the “sake of the men.”

Maybe this just makes me old (I am 35) but Twitch just sounds like a dystopian hellhole I want no part of. Even the most gentle thing in this article - the idea of selling a “friendship experience” - sounds like a Black Mirror episode.

See this is why my wife will only get on mic when she plays with me and people we know personally. Because friends you can trust to not be assholes just because you have two X chromosomes. If we’re playing public matches in Overwatch she relies on me to communicate information to the public voice channel (which is

Maybe it’s because I’m not a big Twitch watcher... but this goes for any form of entertainment.

Everything about Twitch these days is a depressing tale of trolling and misogyny. I turn off the chat as soon as it loads for the few things I watch on there like conferences because it immediately turns into schoolboy levels of “I’d fuck her”, and “OMG she’s such a slut” because she dares *gasp* wear a short sleeved

How about we...oh I dont know...let women do what they want and stop trying to police them? Radical idea I know...

No one ought to be subject to abuse simply for just being.
