The correct response to be assaulted is to pursue criminal charges - he could have chosen to do, she would have had to defend her actions as being appropriate in the face of his verbal assault and preventing her from leaving the shop, and the police/judicial system would have made a determination.

I heard this many times as a child, from the time I could form long-term memory through high school. Hearing it or reading it now is like being gut-punched by the emotions that pummeled my younger self every time I was told.

I got a similar response when an old guy in our local legion went in for a cheek kiss and shoved his tongue in my mouth at the last second. My sister tore a strip off the guy, and I made it clear I was less than happy about it. We both got told we were too hard on him because he was ‘from a different generation’. Fuck

Too many exes have tried to tell me how to feel about shitty situations. One guy told me mid-fight “Are you gonna cry after this? You’re a strong, independent woman. This shouldn’t make you cry.” Fuuuuck you.

“It isn’t worth trying to stop him, he’s just an old man and that’s what he does.”

Fun fact: My mom raised both my sister and myself to answer “Don’t make a scene” by making the biggest scene you have ever seen.

The transcript is horrifying, but listening to the actual recording is worse, especially to anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of this kind of coercive, power-tripping sexual predation. I have: I suspect a great many of us have.

Yes, yes, yes!! My sister is a nurse and my niece is a nurse and they are dedicated and professional and just all around awesome. Plus, the three times I’ve been in the hospital (appendix, miscarriage, childbirth), it was the nurses who did all the work! This story made my blood boil.

The nurse made a point in a statement early on that seems lost in the narrative now. The so-called good cops, the ones hired by the hospital to protect staff and patients, didn’t help her. They acquiesced to another officer, even though he was clearly in the wrong. Cops don’t question other cops. They don’t police

Wubbels didn’t “trade” on anything. Just look at the difference in how people reacted to Justine Damond versus Philando Castile.

Bingo my thoughts exactly. This situation is more about male entitlement. If he couldn’t get what he wanted with verbal threats he would use physical violence as a last resort.

This is why most reputable law enforcement supports the so-called “sanctuary cities” that enable people to report crime without worrying that they will be deported.

I’ve always loved and respected nurses. My girlfriend is a nurse (yes,I was her patient. No,it’s not weird. It’s romantic.) She’s currently in a traveling nursing program and we’re living in Santa Barbara. I got to see the reaction to this within the nursing community and the response was INCREDIBLE. They became this

God, that’s really irritating, the lawyer saying that the chief “reacted to a lot of public pressure”, like it’s a bad thing.

I think the supervisor was only not fired because the officer omitted certain valid bits of information when consulting with him, but being busted from lieutenant back down to police officer is a very, very harsh blow.

“ it also helped that Wubbels is a blond white woman. Officers recorded while perpetrating violence against black men and women have a much higher job retention.”

But I think the chief reacted to a lot of public pressure and scrutiny in making a decision that doesn’t fit the conduct.”

“Skordas thinks that Payne was fired largely due to public pressure, as the video of Wubbels crying as she was manhandled off hospital property sparked national outrage...”

Even money says he’s hit more than one woman in his life. He has trump supporter written all over him.

Furthermore, Brown said Tracy’s actions have caused “substantial damage” to the relationship the police department has with local hospitals, nurses and other health care officials that “will take considerable time and resources to rebuild.”
