Steam reviews are not the determining factor, but if I see somebody with many hours of game time who makes a reasonable list of pros and cons of the game and sounds like they actually know what they are talking about, it does influence my decision.

I do use the reviews and discussion board. They are usually more honest than journalists, because there is no money involved. I also look at gameplay on YouTube before I make a purchase.
Or just have the review with a little box that says “This player got the game via a key” or something like that.
That’s unfair. They’re on the leading edge of digital games retail. They’re trying new things and learning from what works and what doesn’t. They’ll refine the process as they go.
Valve has the right idea, but they need to be able to dial it in a bit. It’s too broad right now. There should be some way for the developer to tell Steam that some keys are legitimate (i.e. kickstarter backer rewards and such) while still filtering out the rest of them.
Valve has spent this year slowly revamping Steam reviews, and the latest change is a biggie: by default, reviews…

I mean, Windows 10 is not perfect. Neither was windows 7. I upgraded a surface 1 pro, a work laptop, and the PC I built for gaming all with no issues. The main problem I have with 10 is it does seem that if you upgrade a very old computer (like my wife’s 5+ year old dell) it can lead to pretty subtsantial slowdown. So…
I resisted for a long time but finally bit the bullet a few weeks ago. I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised at how few problems I’ve had. Really the only problems I’ve had has been with running aaaancient programs that were a bit fiddly to get going properly.
Keeping DLC mostly free has worked well for big developers like CD Projekt with The Witcher 3, who can garner reams…

We finally got our hands on Motorola’s Moto Z Droid, the company’s take on the modular smartphone. Compared to most…
Not only that, he was logged in as an admin bot. With how these sites work, he has access to all percentages of payouts and wins. He has the ability to bet any skins currently held by the site, if he wins he actually wins but if he loses he keeps the items anyway. Literally zero risk involved.
When seeing his apology via Jim Sterling, I almost came due to Schadenfreude. I’m happy that Youtubers are ACTUALLY punished for their crap at once.
In the wake of a scandal where it came to light that two prominent YouTubers, Trevor ‘TmarTn’ Martin and Tom…
1) Nobody buys the game without the DLC. Nobody.
For sales on very old games, be sure to check out the reviews first to make sure the port isn’t a buggy mess. A lot of times a game from Steam will not be properly ported for modern machines, whereas the same game bought from Good Old Games will run straight out of the box without the need to screw around to get 1080p…
Tip: Don’t buy games from publishers who are engaging in shady price inflation during this sale (and during previous sales). Bethesda, Rockstar, etc.
Steam sucks for many reasons, many many reasons, but this is a publisher issue, not Steam/Valve incompetence.
