I agree. They embrace and confidently state what the smart isn't , to make a point about what it is. It reminds me of the self-effacing VW ads from the 60's and 70's.

I swear, I thought Audi were dissing themselves with that dog. Super nose-heavy? Check. Compromise? The A3 sedan is a compromise by definition - a shrunken A4 for people who can't afford a real A4, and lacking the practicality of the A3 hatch.

A little lower, a little wider, more sloping roofline, slightly different tail end, and a different character line on the side, with a much more dramatic haunch crease. It's all the differences they made for the coupe, plus 2 doors. The question is, if the 4GC looks that good, why is there a 3 series any more? That's

Coming from a cool-aid drinking BMW fan, you guys are the best for doing this!

Those guys came on the smoking tire podcast and said they were from northeast pa.

They can make that plastic mold into whatever shape they want, so why, why not make it something good-looking?!

I don't even...is it that they're both red?

Haha, that's actually appropriate since the original 510 was often referred to as a budget 3-series.

You see what happens Mr. Dealer? Exactly what should have happened on day one. In the end there was always going to have to be a new car. Only now you have a toxic reputation.

A Volvoque?

Fantastic write-up, thanks!

This is something I could throw myself into crippling debt for next year...

Here's hoping! I'm in love with that profile view.

Ia Toje! You can download cyrillic from Microsoft if you have windows. Typing Russian with an English physical keyboard is the most patience-testing trial-and-error experience I've ever had, haha.

Even the BRZ I think has a higher nose than this, hidden by those fat arches.

For the record, that says "Jugd moo bodka"

I like that the face isn't ridiculously angry. For all the sweeps and swoops it has, the "facial expression" of the car seems fairly neutral, which is refreshing.

You know, I'm glad Toyota isn't playing the retro game. Same with the GT86 - it has some very subtle cues from the 2000GT, but is still a thoroughly modern car. The supra was a modern, forward-looking car for its time, and the new one should be a modern, forward-looking car for our time.

The first thing on the cutting room floor will probably be that low nose, unfortunately. Noses haven't been this low since the '90's, before all that safety regulation! It's just a reminder of a great design maneuver sacrificed for safety. Not arguing for less safety here, but damn, that profile looks good.
