Yeah, I got so stuck on "She's not hurt" that I re-read it over and over, saying aloud to the screen, "But she IS hurt! That was the whole point of the subplot!"

The real crime of that passage is the comma after "hurt." It makes the sentence read completely wrong. Either keep the first comma and move the "not" immediately after it, or keep the "not" and remove the comma. It is driving me crazy.
