The better question is why the definition you’re implying excludes a game like Tacoma. Games are nothing more than vaguely structured activities that we participate in for... well, lots of reasons. To have fun. To learn. To feel. To distract. To challenge. To compete.

This isn’t censorship, this is one guy trying to defend a bad joke that has no basis in the original text. It even says outright that the original name is a pun on light switches. What in the hell do light switches have to do with a radicalized Christian terrorist group?

“I wanted to make a statement,” localization specialist Tom Lipschultz wrote in an e-mail. “I don’t think it’s right to make any change, no matter how minor, for the purpose of ‘sanitizing’ a game.”

This sounds less like censorship and more like a translator taking liberties that he happens to find funny. And then getting upset when other people didn’t agree with him.

Kickstarter has really illustrated two things for me over the years:
