IMO the more interesting discussion of power balances concerns the power of party insiders vs. the power of ordinary voters. Harris is a presidential candidate who couldn’t get any traction with voters despite major media hype, but party insiders were determined to elevate her, and so they did. The will of the people

Voters love Kamala! Her presidential campaign only fizzled because she couldn’t raise enough money in her impoverished home state of. . . California.

That is some hilarious spin. Harris’s polling numbers were godawful, especially so considering she got a ton of media hype. Voters simply weren’t interested in her.

Wait, are you saying Leave it to Beaver wasn’t reality television?

Platforms are chock full of pandering bullshit. Always have been. Actually passing a Green New Deal will require a massive investment of political capital. I don’t believe for one second that Biden/Harris will do that. Barack Obama never did. Why should I expect better from two avowed moderates like Biden and Harris?

I do remember that. It was a self-parody of Democratic Rube Goldberg schemes that baffle voters.

Perhaps, but the blue bench isn’t very deep with these types anymore. And the more voters elect progressive insurgents the thinner it’s going to get.

Last gasp? Really? If you have even a passing familiarity with the Democratic Party you ought to know the Party will interpret a Biden/Harris victory as a strategic validation which sets the template for future victories.

Harris’s selection completes the humiliation of the Left in 2020. Voters now have two conservative tickets to choose from. Medicare For All, Green New Deal, and all other big progressive policy ideas are dead for at least the next four years, and very likely the next eight.  Disaster.

Late 2000 had a very different vibe from early 2000. At the start of the year the tech boom was roaring, but by winter the NASDAQ had crashed hard and it was clear the internet had been wildly overhyped.

Fred Hampton is exactly the sort of revolutionary beloved by Democrats: DEAD.

Hurt the Bible? I wish!  As an atheist I’d be delighted to vote for a qualified candidate who burns Bibles for kindling in his fireplace.

It’s flabbergasting that after running a terrible candidate in 2016, Democrats found someone even worse for 2020. I’m no fan of Hillary Clinton but I’d vote for her without hesitation if the only alternative were a senile Joe Biden.

Democrats had four years to find a better candidate than Hillary Clinton.  Four years.

Yep. Biden is unelectable without COVID.

The presidential debates between these two senile nitwits are going to be hilarious. I hope they both poop their pants.

PPP a fiasco? I don’t think so. It’s worked okay considering how quickly it was put together. I’m not particularly bothered that some undeserving parties got PPP loans because getting money out the door fast trumped all other considerations.

Some people are losing sight of what PPP is. It’s a massive program that had to be slapped together almost literally overnight, with the overriding priority of getting loans out the door as quickly as possible. Speed was literally a matter of life and death.

I advise parents to take their kids to department stores and big indoor shopping malls so they can see this stuff while it still exists. Take pictures to save the memory. Do it while you still can.

“We Got the Beat” fucking sucks. Put on Beauty and the Beat and you’ll be shocked at how much better all the other songs are. It’s a great record. Somehow the one stupid song on the record became the chart-busting hit single.
