I’ve always thought “We Got the Beat” was a curse for the Go-Go’s. It didn’t represent the band well at all. It’s by far the dumbest song on Beauty and the Beat, which is otherwise packed with smart pop-rock gems. There should have been more hits on that record, and maybe there would’ve been if “We Got the Beat”…

Cries for stronger antitrust laws feed the alibi of captured regulators/enforcers that they lack sufficient legal authority to act. They don’t. They already have sufficient authority, they simply refuse to use it.

I’m aware of this proposal. It’s nothing but a transparent attempt to shore up the credibility of an organization that should have none. It’s worth remembering that President Obama routinely shat on the CPC’s stated priorities and the CPC generally just rolled over and voted with Obama.

The CPC simply doesn’t believe in governing. The tell is the overlap in membership between the CPC and the New Democrats. There are no policy positions that will get a member of the CPC kicked out, or that will disqualify a prospective member.

If you give cash, you’re a criminal. If you give a building, you’re a philanthropist.

Warren was way ahead of the curve on raising alarm bells about concentrated corporate power. No other presidential candidate has more credibility on antitrust.
