There's a lot to think about in this story, including how we treat teen (or young and single)moms and how much a college degree is really worth. Lots of people are smart, shrewd, talented, and hard-working, I'm glad she got the opportunity to prove it. Good for her.

The CEO of my old company was a young mother (had a child at 19 and then another at 21). Her husband left her soon after the second child and she is now pioneering a huge amount of social change in my state in Australia. It's really great to hear about women who rise from shitty situations to do amazing things.

Women of color are hurt by sexism in different ways. Black w0men face especially pernicious prejudices. A black trans woman is facing a very "special" toxic brew.

Race maters here and should not be erased.

It's good that you find any murder unsettling. But you should also care what color, or gender or orientation for that matter, because these crimes disproportionately effect certain communities.

Yes, as someone who worked with and about migrants at the Arizona border and knows quite well what that means I was particulalry confused by her comment to me and what she meant with her border patrol friend being 'badass'.
