have you never played mariokart? If you jump then wiggle back and forth until your sparks turn blue you get a boost after exiting the corner.

So here's another vote against "don't bring your own helmet." THE GERMS. THE GERMSSSSSSSS.

I did a 6hr enduro karting event up at Limerock and many of the tricks described worked for our team. We couldn't pre select our cars per se, but after the warm up sessions it was apparent that if you could start at the crest of the hill where the start finish line was instead of slightly down the grid and down the

I'll definitely have to try this technique. At 6'4" and 230 lbs, I need everything I can to help with acceleration. I still chuckle when I think back to a place in Pheonix, AZ, where the course worker tried telling us adults that there was no advantage to being a small kid because our extra weight gave us more

You just bounce in the kart to reduce the load on the rear axle. In kart racing leagues ~90% of people do this at the start to get away better, it's actually pretty effective. It's fairly unusual to do this coming out of a corner, unless it's a hairpin or you completely bogged the engine down.

you pull on the steering wheel and push with your feet so your backside temporarily parts company with the seat. It looks daft but it does make a difference. Just don't to it every lap.

"don't be fat"

I bring my own helmet. Period. For the many reasons others have already provided. Comfort. Cleanliness. Real protection. No one has 'coughed' at me. More people than you think bring their own helmets.

The technique is intended to generate a bit of wheelspin when exiting low speed turns. Helps to get the motor back up into the power band.

Absolutely agree. I bring my own helmet because I dont want lice and/or any other communicable malady that helmet/balaclava may harbor. My plain black bell helmet will hardly elicit any comment from anyone.

Same here. In addition to only having my sweat and funk in it, my helmet is lighter and more comfortable the the cheap ones at every kart track I've been to.

2nd. Public helmets are disgusting.

Gotta go against you on that "don't bring your own helmet" thing. Don't know where you're at, Alex, but there's no way in hell I'm sharing a helmet with the general Los Angeles public, especially after I spent good money on my own. I say bring your own helmet and don't talk shit.
