It reminds me of when Ford kept the old Taurus the same too long. 1996–1999 then a mid-cycle facelift which ran from 2000–2007. Then they wondered why the Taurus stopped selling except to rental fleets and the nameplate lost its luster.

Will it let you see through GM's ugly new front end styling?

Always my favorite!👍

All my cars ever

There literally was a “Toyota” Nova marketed as the Chevrolet Nova from 1985–1988.

That was Ford being cheap. Ford lobbied in 1983 for aerodynamic composite headlamps with replaceable halogen bulbs to be legal just in time for the 1984 Continental Mark VII to go on sale. The Mustang SVO had no reason to wait until the 1986 model year.

Regulations were changed in 1983 in time for the 1984 Continental Mark VII to have aerodynamic composite headlamps with replaceable halogen bulbs. It never made any sense for the Mustang SVO to wait until 1986 to get their own. That was Ford being cheap.

Late 1960s to 1979 on Continental Mark III, IV & V and Lincoln Continentals;  plus full sized Fords/Mercuries (up to 1978) and Thunderbirds (up to 1976).

The Riviera was much nicer with its curvier contoured body lines. The Eldorado was just an excercise in drawing right angles and forming flat featureless body panels.

How about hand crank start like an old Ford Model T?

To be fair, the 1979–1980 Pintos you have illustrated here already had their designs modified to prevent the fuel tank explosions which were only prone to earlier sedan and Runabout models, not the wagons.

We all know the nicest price was the Kelly Blew Book Chevette!

But Ford saved money using Fairmont parking lamps on the 79–80 Pinto lol

You've never worked with aftermarket parts where they are replaced all the time on many different vehicles, not just because of impact damage but things like age, wear and stress.

Saturn 3-door coupes....

Yeah this is no different than coachbuilders building dozens of stretch limos like they always have. They are just reconfiguring the rear doors as well.

Before the age of the internet, it really wasn’t important if a domestic manufacturer rebadged a captive import as their own. There used to be the Ford Courier which was a Mazda truck, the Chevy Luv which was an Isuzu truck, the Hillman Avenger was sold as the Plymouth Cricket and all those Mitsubishi Galants and

Most replacement sealed beam lamps now ARE halogen.

To the last Thunderbirds to do it, 1989–1991.
