Not only that but the MKX was intended to be an Aviator. Pre-production prototypes were shown to the public with Aviator nameplates before the last minute name change to MKX was made. It’s still a good name in line with the same theme as Navigator.
There is already a history of using the Maverick name on European and Australian SUVs. The Maverick name is never coming back as a passenger sedan so Ford could make use of the name.
This LMAO!
Fords are contented as high as Lincolns these days. Back in the day there used to be a cutoff for how well equipped a Ford or Mercury could be to keep from stepping on Lincoln’s toes.
The Continental is not selling because it’s a sedan in a market now dominated by SUVs. That’s evident by the dramatic increase of the newly designed Navigator sales.
The Jeep Liberty was sold as the Cherokee outside of North America.
COTD!
What a tired and lame old appearance package. There is nothing special about this anymore.
I just love it when sellers of “Anniversary Mustangs” think they have something special when in fact there were a few anniversary model years where every Mustang built had anniversary fender badges.
Yes, I have known this forever.
The Chevy/Olds/Buick wagons came out before the Buick Roadmaster sedan. It was easier and more cost effective to change just the grilles only for these lower volume vehicles while providing a premium vista roof variation for Olds and Buick. The wagons were produced in volumes too low to justify the cost of three…
The Vista Cruiser was traditionally on the mid-size Cutlass line. Full-sized wagons were always Custom Cruiser.
1982 was also a major year for the debut of the larger A-body FWD Celebrity and the smaller J-body Cavalier which were both extremely sucessful. The styling of these cars was more conventional and fresher looking.
I don’t recall Canada getting a Pontiac version of the last generation Caprice Classic/ Roadmaster / Custom Cruiser wagon. Both Pontiac USA and Canada had the boxy 77-91 generation Safari Wagon initially based on the Catalina/Bonneville and later based on the Canadian Parisienne.
That would have been an Olds Starfire Firenza as Firenza was a graphic sports package for the Starfire. Olds dropped the Starfire name after 1980 and used the Firenza name for the Olds J-body version of the Chevy Cavalier clone.
The gear knob is the right shape but none of them came with red stitching.
You shouldn’t speak about a Beetle unless you can spell it correctly.
A lot lizard...
I absolutely loved the type loop carpeting it used. I was a fan of the basic design of the car but retrospect it was half assed in too many ways.
