Seriously, an armed mob trying to force its way into a house in the middle of the night. What were they going to do, make a citizen’s arrest? What a joke. Those cops that let them go without even taking their names should all be fired for negligence and sheer stupidity for just ignoring a lynch mob.
So they got together an armed lynch mob and terrorized this woman because they thought some guy *might* live there and when they found out he didn’t and the actual police arrived, nobody was arrested even though they brought weapons to the scene and tried to force their way into her home.
Sounds like a planned lynching.
My fiance told me about this last night. Not only were we both shocked/not-shocked, we contemplated what we would do in a similar situation, being white.
FWIW, Carole says that the will thing isn’t true, and the assets were divvied up like that a decade before his death.
Multiple sources doesn’t magically mean more probable. The documentary did *zero* leg work to substantiate why someone was trustworthy or not.
My point was that the show took Joe’s belief in Carol’s guilt and made the accusation “valid” for the viewers regardless of his own faults.
We only saw what the producers wanted us to see. The lead investigator who was interviewed on the show said his material was edited to look more like he thought Carole was guilty even though he said they never found any evidence that a crime was even committed.
I think it’s pretty wild to look at all the evidence and say “nope, nothing seems suspicious here.” Did you know it is a known tactic of drug smugglers to fly under radar? This has been reported on since the 80s. It’s a great way to bring drugs into the US.
I would also counter this that there were some pretty extreme biases on part of who they interviewed about the husband. I mean, I’m pretty sure one of the sources that he was going to divorce her was the ex-wife.
Exactly. The way people talked about Hillary Clinton like she was the devil combined with Lilith and John Wayne Gacy and Nathan Bedford Forrest all wrapped into one. At the same time they are letting Trump brag about watching naked underage girls and not paying taxes, reading stories about him refusing to pay wages…
See I battle with the idea that the show did her wrong. I think the show portrayed her fine...but misogyny is so deeply ingrained in our culture that people walked away thinking she was worse than the rest.
Ex. Fucking. Zactly. Hell, there’s a interview IN THE SHOW where a guy said the husband was trying to pull something big off right before he left. Let alone the complete non-fact Joe Exotic tosses in there that “tiger stomachs can completely digest bones all the way!”
So the Hillary Clinton-like character is clearly the most adult of the bunch, yet America chooses the immature, shady, hateful people instead as their favorite?
I kind of missed the hate until I actually started to pay attention to Twitter and still don’t understand it
I said it before on another thread about Tiger King that people who are interested in a more balanced take on this whole thing should listen to the Over My Dead Body podcast series. Not only do they offer some different information on Carole and Don, but they also reveal a lot more of the horrific abuse of animals by…
I made this exact comparison to a friend. She’s not a charismatic narcissist like Joe and Doc, and she bred big cats in the beginning of her career, so she isn’t “pure” enough for people. It’s literally Hillary vs Trump in crazy tiger people form.
To me, the most startling thing I read was when people who watched the show were surveyd, Carole Baskin was viewed most unfavorably by a wide margin. Cult Leader Doc Antle and Scam Master Jeff Lowe received much better grades than she did. The second most unfavorable character? Her husband Howard.
She’s getting character assassinated like Hillary Clinton. She even has the same calm slightly aloof tone of responding to accusations, and I think that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Like, she’s literally the least worst tiger keeper on the show, but seems to be getting the most hate. Jeff Lowe is literally the…
