The DC version would just say "no" to whatever you suggest for different reasons. "Neighborhood opposition." "Congressional interference." "Capricious federal court ruling." Fun!

Chris Christie!

True, Jack probably would have supported the barely-sentient robot that everyone agreed to pretend was John Ellis Bush. "Come on, Lemon. A Connecticut blue blood who goes by Jeb? Use your brain. He — it — was cooked up in a GE lab in 90s."

I found it amusing that the writers decided to make David Fincher a crab ("Pincher") instead of just, you know, a finch.

Isn't he more Bob Saget? Saget more famously has dealt with drugs/alcoholism/womanizing in the wake of Full House.

Ha, great catch. Also haven't seen it mentioned that while "David Pincher" is a fun pun, it's extra silly since his name already has an animal (Finch) in it!

I saw it in person and enjoyed it immensely. I agree that the soundtrack hasn't grabbed me that much when I've listened to it since (other than "Ring of Keys", of course).

…Who goes out for matzo? Come on man, make those stereotypes count. "This corned beef is terrible… and such small portions!"

I wouldn't say there's no sign. While most superhero movies and TV shows continue to do well commercially, the appetite for them isn't infinite, and it remains to be seen whether anyone can replicate Marvel's model — even Marvel itself, after Infinity War wraps up.

Royal Tampa Academy of Dramatic Tricks!

I think it makes more sense if Pence = Kenneth and Kaine = Pete.

I agree — I think traditional, weekly shows are less likely to feature innovative or striking episodes, because if they fall flat, viewers (and critics) stew in it for a week instead of just hitting play on the next one.

Yeah, that part kind of rang false to me. There are plenty of ways her life can be hollow in a more ritzy apartment building, you know? She's set up as the top of her field, represents the A-est of the A-list, and she lives out in the valley… why?

It's actually a great demonstration of "proper" improv form, too — do something dynamic so you're not just standing there talking, but don't make the improv about what you're doing.

It would be a good idea to do a double 11/12 review for that reason

Regardless of whether it's a good idea/solves the problem (I'm skeptical of both), it's a real idea that's out there – Chariot and See Jane Go being two examples. The bigger question for a company like this in the near term is whether it violates civil rights laws, though I don't expect the show to get into that.

One of my favorite lines from The History Boys, when they're trying to decide on an appropriately iconoclastic essay topic: "I did all the other stuff like Stalin was a sweetie and Wilfred Owen was a pussy!"

That would be a great one, actually.

Yeah, this sounds horrible. I get that it's easier to try to capitalize on existing franchises, but True Blood? Is it that much harder to find good, original material that can sell? This isn't even a School of Rock situation where at least the musical DNA is pretty baked-in.
